BigPay: The Travel Card That's Stuck in Neutral
A $35M revenue fintech with a 2.6-star rating and stagnant growth
BigPay markets itself as a 'simple interface for you to spend, send, receive and track money' globally. But beneath the surface of this $35.3M revenue fintech lies a product struggling to escape its niche, with traffic dominated by direct users searching for 'login' and a Trustpilot score that screams 'proceed with caution.'
"BigPay isn't building a travel revolution—it's managing a loyal, but shrinking, core user base that can't find the login button."
The Traffic Paradox
With 46,529 monthly visits, BigPay's traffic profile reveals a critical weakness. 33% is direct traffic—likely existing users trying to access their accounts. The top keyword isn't 'travel card' (5,230 volume) but 'bigpay login' (260 volume). This isn't a growth engine; it's a customer support portal masquerading as a marketing website. The lack of top-country data (all 'undefined') suggests either a fragmented user base or poor analytics tracking—both red flags for a travel-focused fintech.
The Trust Deficit
A 2.6/5 rating from just 4 reviews is a smoking gun. For a fintech, trust is currency, and BigPay is bankrupt. This isn't a product with a few bad reviews—it's a product with almost no social proof. In a market where competitors like Wise and Revolut dominate with thousands of 4+ star reviews, BigPay's rating suggests fundamental product or support issues that are scaring off potential users before they even sign up.
The tech stack tells a story of competent but unremarkable engineering. Next.js and PWA capabilities show modern web development, but there's no evidence of the aggressive growth tech stack—no viral sharing mechanisms, no referral program integrations, no sophisticated conversion tracking. It's a solid B- tech stack for a C+ product in a market that demands A+ innovation.
- Revenue is respectable but growth appears stalled (no funding data available)
- Traffic is dominated by existing users, not new acquisition
- Trust signals are critically weak with a 2.6/5 rating
- Product differentiation is unclear against giants like Wise and Revolut
The Bottom Line: A Sleeping Giant or a Dying Product?
BigPay has the revenue but lacks the growth engine and trust signals to compete in the hyper-competitive travel fintech space. Without aggressive product innovation and customer experience overhaul, this $35M business risks becoming irrelevant.

stay away from this company
this is a warning to stay away from this company. i opened an account, made the 20myr transfer they requested, used it to pay for their debit card and assumed id soon be able to use the account for taxis and other small payments. but the very next day they suspended the account, asking why i made that 20myr transfer as if it was suspicious. they've since made demands for all kinds of documents that i don't trust to give them, theyve sent emails that are borderline threatening, called me to make demands and in general harassed me in a way that i find highly concerning, all over a 20myr transfer from my own local bank that they themselves requested and was initiated from within their own app. this is like some kind of horror film but its real, and i have since read that this company has done the same thing with other people, maybe many, driving one poor lady to the point of considering suicide, ruining her life and making her physically ill from the stress they caused and she was entirely innocent and they hounded her over a tiny 10myr transfer their idiotic system somehow flagged as suspicious. i am not sure how to proceed, whether to make a formal complaint to the regulator, inform major media outlets, or what i will need to stop their unjust and absurd harassment. i will be taking advice asap as to whether i need to take legal action against them to make them stop. i am not sure if this is some kind of attempt at a scam or even extortion, but its something ive never experienced in my life. stay away from this company, they are dangerous and even a minor transfer they themselves requested for account opening may trap you into a never ending nightmare.
Malaysia deserves better, Honestly!
I’d absolutely say they’re allergic to standards. Thinking of joining? Only if you're passionate about being ignored by customer service and enjoy the thrill of a compliance department that clearly exists only in theory. They'd better take their business outside Malaysia else where.
BigPay Malaysia - A Nightmare of Negligence and Injustice
As a long-time user of BigPay Malaysia, I never imagined I would face such a horrifying experience with their support team, culminating in the worst customer service I've encountered. Here's my story, which I hope catches the attention of the public and BigPay's top management: On November 29, 2024, I fell victim to a scammer merchant and immediately contacted BigPay Malaysia to halt the transaction of RM1253.01. Despite my efforts, including repeated emails and calls, Sivaranjani from their support team provided no sense of urgency, stating: “We are unable to cancel or stop this transaction… Pending transactions will automatically return in 10 days if unsuccessful.” This was unacceptable given that I had already flagged the transaction as fraudulent. Even after escalating my concerns, Khairul, Emma, and finally Thana from BigPay showed a blatant lack of action and relied solely on fabricated “evidence” provided by the scammer merchant. Key Failures by BigPay: Neglecting Urgency: I reported the issue immediately, yet BigPay refused to act swiftly to block the transaction. Blind Reliance on Scammers’ Evidence: The merchant's claims and documents were clearly fake, but BigPay’s support team forwarded them to me without critical review. Dismissive Customer Support: From Nov 29 to Jan 17, BigPay repeatedly ignored the compelling evidence I provided, including discrepancies in IP addresses, invalid contact details, and proof of scam activity. Case Closed Prematurely: Instead of thoroughly investigating, BigPay’s support team rushed to close the case, ignoring my explanations and even suggesting the scammer’s outcome was final. By the end of this ordeal, Thana wrote on Jan 17, 2025, dismissing my case entirely: “The merchant’s evidence is deemed genuine, and we no longer have the rights to raise further disputes.” This decision is outrageous, as it effectively enables scammers to steal with no repercussions. BigPay’s inaction has led to a complete loss of my funds, and their unprofessional handling has destroyed my trust in the company. My Conclusion: BigPay’s incompetence and unwillingness to protect their users from fraud are appalling. I will stop using BigPay immediately and encourage everyone to think twice before trusting this service. I will also file a police report and escalate this issue to the appropriate authorities. To BigPay’s management: If you truly care about your users, overhaul your customer support and dispute resolution process. You’ve failed me as a loyal customer, and it’s only fair that I share this terrible experience with the public.
