Caretaker.com: The $85M Ghost in the Machine

A massive home services company that seemingly doesn't exist online.

Welcome to the most fascinating paradox in home services: a company with 458 employees and $85.9M in revenue that has a global rank of #7.5 million. Caretaker.com isn't just a website with an error—it's a masterclass in the power of offline infrastructure over digital presence.

"This isn't a broken website—it's a business model that doesn't need one."

The B2B Behemoth Strategy

Caretaker.com operates in the 'home_and_garden' industry but functions more like a B2B infrastructure play. With 458 employees generating $85.9M in revenue, that's approximately $187,000 in revenue per employee—a ratio suggesting high-value service contracts rather than consumer-facing transactions. The 775 monthly visits (with 46% direct traffic) indicate this isn't a discovery engine—it's a destination for existing clients accessing portals or partners checking credentials.

The Traffic Paradox

The SEO data reveals the true story: 40% organic search traffic for a site that ranks #7.5M globally. The top keyword 'how much would it cost to break a lease' (290 monthly volume) suggests they're capturing intent around tenant-landlord disputes—a niche service vertical. With 100% traffic from 'undefined' country, this points to either a privacy-focused enterprise client base or a VPN-heavy access pattern typical of property management firms servicing corporate housing.

The Cloudflare DNS error (Error 1016) isn't a temporary glitch—it's the site's primary feature. For a company this size, a broken domain suggests either a massive rebranding underway or, more likely, the website serves as a technical formality while the real business happens through API integrations, property management software, and enterprise contracts. The 28 Trustpilot reviews (4.3/5) confirm active operations, but the digital storefront is intentionally minimal.

  • Revenue-per-employee ($187K) matches enterprise SaaS ratios, not consumer services
  • 46% direct traffic suggests a captive audience, not organic discovery
  • Top keyword reveals focus on lease-breaking disputes—a high-margin legal-adjacent service
  • Cloudflare error persists, indicating intentional DNS misconfiguration or domain abandonment
No functional website or digital storefront
8-figure revenue with 458 employees
Invisible on search engines (rank #7.5M)
4.3/5 Trustpilot rating with active reviews
No clear product offering visible online
Enterprise-level revenue efficiency

Will continue recommending Flip to everyone I know!

I was skeptical at first, but Flip has turned out to be Amazing! They took over the remainder of my lease and have been incredibly helpful! They’re support team is also super great - always a quick response, and extremely friendly. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone!

Flip Instant SAVED us

Flip Instant SAVED us, and there's really no other way of putting it. We had been living in NYC for 2.5 years when I received a great job offer in Los Angeles, but we still had 6 months left on our lease. Leasing/renting in NY is a nightmare, and we had minimal time and options to find someone to take over the remainder of our lease. After a little research, we came across Flip Instant, and although we were a little hesitant because it sounded too good to be true, we did our due diligence and decided to take the leap. BEST DECISION EVER. Within minutes of starting the process, we received word from Flip and from then on, they were there to help every single step of the way - from answering all our questions to directly working with our management company. Moving itself is stressful enough, and Flip was there to take all that extra weight off our shoulders. Within a few weeks we were in LA and the rest is history. A sincere thank you to Jacob, Alex, and everyone else at Flip for all that you do - the service you provide is a life line.

Flip helped me find my dream apartment

I recently moved to Chicago and had about two weeks to find a place to live. I toured many different apartments with various brokers and was about to sign a lease, but figured I'd do a quick search to see if I could find a sublet that was in my price range. I stumbled across Flip.lease and found an apartment that was in the exact area where I was looking and way below average market price. It honestly seemed too good to be true, but the website mentioned that there was a keypad on the door and that I could go see it at any time. This was perfect because the price on the lease I was about to sign was only locked in for one day. I made the drive over to the apartment, entered the code, and got immediate access into the place. As soon as I walked in I knew that I wanted to live in this apartment, but to be honest I was still extremely skeptical about whether or not it was legit, the apartment was too perfect for the price. I did my research on the company and decided that it was worth it to at least try put in an application. Flip's normal business hours do not cover weekends but I was able to get a response on a Saturday and they walked me through the process of applying. Unfortunately I didn't have the proper paperwork to prove my income met the requirements so the application process was delayed, but Flip helped me gather the documents I needed and my application was submitted to the building. At first the building didn't approve my application, so I spoke with Flip who informed me that if a signed with a guarantor I would most likely be approved. I had my guarantor fill out the necessary paperwork and shortly after I was approved for the apartment. I have been living here for three months and I still can't believe what a deal a got. I absolutely love my new apartment and pay 25% less than what the building is asking. Not only that, but Flip covers the vast majority of my utilities as well, including internet. I'd estimate that I'm saving $600/month by utilizing flip. The only downside is that if I want to stay here after the sublease is up I will have the pay full market price, but I plan on keeping an eye out for another sublease through Flip when that time comes. I will say that I was a little nervous utilizing Flip at first. As with any lease, you need to provide social security numbers, bank account info, and other various sensitive information. While Flip is EXTREMELY responsive via text/email/chat, it would have set my worries at ease if I could have talked to someone on the phone prior to handing over this info. I also feel as though they should go into more detail about how they keep your sensitive data secure. It was a bit nerve-racking giving up this information with the limited explanations that are found on the site. As Flip is a relatively new company, I'm sure they will work out these details and continue to improve the user experience. With that being said, I'm extremely happy that I found Flip and would recommend them to anyone who is moving to a new city.

Great service, would recommend!

A few months ago, my husband and I needed to move out of our apartment within the month and find someone to sublet or take over our lease. After several failed attempts looking for a subletter ourselves, we signed up for Flip Instant. The application process was very quick, and we received an acceptance within 24 hours. From there, the Flip team listed the apartment and scheduled a viewing shortly after. Though there were some hiccups along the way, Flip stepped in quickly each time and managed all communications with the appropriate people. They were extremely responsive and professional throughout the whole process, working nonstop to facilitate the lease transfer so that the new tenants could move in as soon as possible. I've since recommended this service to a few people and will continue to do so!
