Cellcom: The Telco Giant You've Never Heard Of
A $166M regional powerhouse with a 1.5-star problem and a login page obsession
In a world dominated by Verizon and T-Mobile, Cellcom is quietly raking in $166.7M annually by owning the wires in Wisconsin. But with a Trustpilot rating that screams 'customer exodus,' the real story isn't about market share—it's about retention warfare.
"Cellcom doesn't need to win the internet—it just needs to keep Wisconsin connected."
The Login Page Addiction
When your top five keywords are 'cellcom login,' 'cellcom,' 'cellcom quick pay,' 'cellcom service outage,' and 'mycellcom,' you're not building a brand—you're managing a utility. This is the digital footprint of a company whose customers only visit when something is broken or a bill is due. The 400 monthly searches for 'login' and 300 for 'outage' reveal a reactive user base, not an engaged community.
Regional Dominance vs. Digital Weakness
With 414 employees and a global rank of #447,112, Cellcom is a classic regional telecom: massive physical infrastructure, minimal digital footprint. The 88% traffic concentration in 'undefined' (likely Wisconsin) proves they're not playing the national game. They're the blue-collar alternative to the big carriers—reliable where it matters (the ground), invisible where it doesn't (the cloud).
The tech stack detection failed, which is telling in itself. Either they're running legacy systems that hide from scanners, or they're so specialized that modern tools can't parse them. For a company with 414 employees, the absence of detected technologies suggests a black-box infrastructure—likely a custom or heavily modified stack that prioritizes uptime over innovation.
- CEO Pat Riordan leads a 414-person operation with $166M in revenue—that's $400K per employee, impressive for regional telecom
- 46% direct traffic indicates strong brand recall: customers know exactly where to go when they need Cellcom
- Trustpilot's 1.5/5 rating from 48 reviews is a red flag—either they're not soliciting feedback, or they're actively avoiding it
Cellcom is a cash cow, not a growth story
For investors: stable utility income. For founders: a masterclass in what NOT to do digitally.

Cellcom phone is much more better than…
Cellcom phone is much more better than mint mobile. But if you think there celebrations are good you better think twice. They don’t have any pop, ice cream, the subs are still sucks. It was better years ago when we could get more than one sub. And it tastes a lot better, pop, ice cream, and you can get more than one sandwich and you do not have to resister. You only allowed one thing. We were told at one of the stores that they supposed to have food trucks or brats or hamburgers. And had subs lie to us again.

No charger for Pixel 8a
I was sold a Pixel 8a phone that I was not able to charge. The phone didn't come with a charger. That wasn't my issue. The issue is the customer service person that sold me the phone didn't tell me or I would have purchased one. Now I have a new phone that is dead and no way to charge it. My bad for not doing the research first but I have never purchased a phone before that didn't have some way to charge it. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Verizon pays back for non service, Cellcom doesn't.r…
Verizon is now repaying customers for losing 1 day of lost service, $20 credit each. Far cry from Cellcom's weeks of lost service $50. Aren't there any class action lawsuit attorneys that want to collect?
Connection issues
I have been having connection issues since they had their outage. It is now end of August and nothing has been resolved after many many calls to tech support. Today they called back ( yes, they really called back!!) and basically told me there is nothing they can do about it and suggested I buy a $350.00 signal booster. After I stopped laughing I said NO. Then I was sent to customer retention department and they offered to rent me a booster. So long story short, I will be leaving Cellcom after almost 25 years as a customer. Run away from them while you can!!!!!!
