Delta dental began in 1966 after a series of mergers of dental companies. It's vast with 39 independent members in all 50 states including P.R and DC my experience has been mixed because while most dentists accept delta dental at least 95% have a negative word about the insurance especially 32bj delta dental. It's embarrassing! Most dentists ask for money upfront or credit card info before the appointment. At least in NY my experience. 32bj delta dental does have some dentists who accept and won't charge you upfront but not many.

Careful !!!!!!! They are not reimbursing my dentist. Called about 20 plus times. They are claiming they have a new system and are backed up. Last call they are claiming they paid my Dentist. News Flash ...... I the Patient had to pay my Dentist. Unbelievable. If they think I walk away from this think again. Maybe time for an Attorney.

I have to pull a tooth and because I work with public I decided to wear a partial denture until I have the implant done. My dentist told me the partial was not covered at all by my insurance so I had to pay for that. How I suppose to work with public w/o a lateral tooth? This is ridiculous. Make people feel embarrassed.
I have Delta Dental insurance and they do not pay
I have Delta Dental insurance and have suffered from severe teeth grinding during my sleep for years. The condition progressed to the point that my teeth no longer properly touched, making it extremely difficult to eat because of pain and the inability to tear food. After visiting my dentist, they reviewed my insurance coverage and informed me that Delta Dental would cover crowns for my front teeth because they were causing pain and were close to the nerve. Based on that information, I proceeded with the treatment and paid my portion of the cost. However, Delta Dental ultimately did not pay the amount that was expected, leaving me responsible for an additional $1,900 bill. This has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience.
