Fees to look for constantly! Call it FeeBank Banking here for over 5 years. Every interaction has been oh by the way more fees (debit/cc cards, now minimum balance across some accounts). My Latest is Fees for personal banking coming in October. Well, fee assed in late August where no restrictions should be in place, customer service dumbfounded as to why. I have a business loan which gives ZERO credit towards "fees", unlike other bigger banks. Honestly, this gives me ZERO reason to do personal banking here as fees continue to roll out. Next up fees for walking into a branch I bet. Oh, and if you run a business you probably have a need to go back and look at check images. These are only stored for about 5 months, so come tax time you are out of luck. Statements go back about 2 years which is annoying in an age where you can go back in time endlessly with any other product. Finding an ATM is actually difficult with the phone app. You have to LOG IN in order to see their lists of banks/atms. However, in some locations of Colorado it will not show you ANY despite them being within 5 miles. The ATMs are quite slow and with the CO sun, they are quite difficult to see and operate. I will say the staff is friendly when you go into a branch. That is divorced from the corporate feel of let me reach into your pockets for fees.
Firstbank Blames the Victims of Fraud
efirstbank is the worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Unbeknownst to me, my bank information was stolen and FirstBank contacted me to inform me of the matter. One charge was caught before it could post, however, another charge from the same fraudster was not blocked. I was able to dispute that particular charge and to my knowledge, everything worked out fine. Unfortunately, after this issue I was blamed for the fraud and FirstBank accused me of being careless with my information, even though I still have no idea how my account was compromised as I don't make purchases from untrustworthy sources. I was then told that if I continued to make disputes, FirstBank would fire me as a customer and enforce a life time ban. FirstBank does not care about their customers and they treat them with contempt. If you are unfortunate enough to be the victim of fraud, FirstBank will immediately respond with victim blaming and hold you responsible even if you are a model card holder. One issue that I am concerned that may have lead FirstBank to respond to my dilemma in such a way, was that I had made a complaint against a customer service representative in the Disputes Department as this representative was incredibly rude, unprofessional and antagonistic towards me. Following my complaint, FirstBank actually called me two separate times and lectured me regarding my banking information and how holding a card with FirstBank is a privilege and that I need to be more responsible with my card. Given that I was unaware that my banking information was stolen, why am I being brow beaten by Firstbank and held personally responsible? This is what leads me to believe that the customer service rep that I complained about is responsible for this inexplicable behavior from FirstBank. I do not recommend this bank.
Unethical Bank
First Bank helped hackers steal money from my business account. They authorized EFTs without my permission and now are claiming that the problem is my responsibility and they are not liable or responsible in any way for the theft. I strongly recommend that if you are looking for a reliable and trustworthy banking institution that you keep looking. If you want to keep your money safe, avoid First Bank. They are unethical and part of the problem rather than the solution.
