Do not subscribe! It is *impossible* to cancel. I tried non-stop for a full hour but they hung up on me over and over. Before I finally gave up I was getting the same staff members who were now laughing at me. I got hold of someone on the web chat; she said they would call me as soon as possible. I asked when that would likely be. She pasted in the same 'We will contact you as soon as possible'. I explained it was important I didn't miss their call so if she could indicate if that meant that night, or the next day, or what, that would be helpful. She pasted in the same sentence. Then closed the chat. Of course, nobody has called me. I also emailed to explain the situation, but received the reply that they were 'unable' to cancel my subscription unless I called. I had to block them in my banking app to prevent them taking my money. They've tried twice now and keep emailing to ask me to fix it.

Not only it was very difficult to unsubscribe from the journal (I was paying a subscription that every year got increased in price unknowingly, because they wouldn’t inform you about the charge by email… keeping it most hidden possible), but it’s impossible to unsubscribe from their mailing… it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve clicked the unsubscribe bottom, they keep sending messages. They incur in breach of privacy. To unsubscribe from the journal they make you call them, so you need to be in its country, otherwise that call would cost you a fortune. When someone called them on my behalf because I was abroad, they used aggressive marketing techniques to make you stay with them. Unscrupulous.

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. It is pretty much impossible to cancel. NO SE SUSCRIBA. Es casi imposible cancelar. I subscribed for an introductory deal of 12 € for 12 months. I tried to cancel before auto-renewal at a price of (I think) 139€. After three emails to El Pais, in which they insisted I could only cancel by phone, I called and spent 30 mins being passed around until I finally managed to cancel. Or so they said. I have a record of the call. But looking at the difficulties with cancellation reported by many other reviewers, I decided to be sure they couldn't charge me. You can't delete your card details on their site, but as it happens I was intending to cancel the particular card shortly anyway, so I accelerated that process. And guess what, today they tried (and failed) to charge me. The barriers to cancellation are such that it's not far off a criminal extortion racket. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE.
The subscription is corrupt
The subscription is corrupt. A cheap annual subscription cannot be cancelled online. Called 6 months before it was due to renew and they promised to cancel it. Wrote to them on week before it would have been due to renew as I didn't trust the process and they wrote back to say they were processing my cancellation. They still took £100 put of my account. I'm not sure what legal rights I have with a Spanish organisation but I sure as he'll am going to find out. Disgusting. If this is how untrustworthy there subscription service is then I wouldn't trust their editorial.
