Not the most customer-oriented service…
Not the most customer-oriented service in the world. I understand, airport is airport. But it's not user-friendly and the inspection is unnecessarily rude and suspicious. Hope I will not face it again

I used to really like FRA and there…
I used to really like FRA and there still are positives about it: an excellent rail link, free (good, ie FT, FAZ, NYT) newspapers frequently available, and generally quite short check-in times but by now I’d say the negatives outweigh the positives, hence 2 not 3 stars. 1. Signage: I’m German and even for me it is difficult to find my way from Fernbahnhof (long distance railway station) to T2 and especially from T2 to Fernbahnhof. When I arrived at T2, I was led towards the exit with signs to T1 and Fernbahnhof suddenly disappearing. I had to ask to find out that I’d have to take a bus that was going about every 20 minutes and took some 15mins more (long transfer if you’ve got a train to catch!). Even more: apparently there is a skytrain link between both terminals but I wouldn’t find it (and neither did staff mention it) but I took it on my way back. Alongside, you find yourself go through a mess of turns and floor changes. 2. Trollies cost 2 euros each and there are plenty barriers between terminals. I mean, is there really not a better way to deal with this? Charging people to take a luggage trolly at an airport? Really? 3. Frequent delays and endless tax ting. Frankfurt, despite Germany‘s reputation, is not exactly know for its seamless operation. So expect delays and other surprises. My last rendition was them being surprised about my flight from Heathrow being on time so that we didn’t have a gate ready and disembarked via stairs and bus (actually well improvised by the staff though — I’m not being sarcastic). 4. Virtually no shops past security in T2. I get the point: There are separate security checkpoints for smaller numbers of gates to improve efficiency. But is there really not a better way to do this? Passengers usually arrive at an airport, do the work first (I.e. check in, go through security) and relax then while waiting for boarding. In Frankfurt apparently you can’t. From a purely commercial but also customer satisfaction point of view this seems such a stupid thing to do. So why, FRA? Why? Overall, not the worst airport I’ve been at but I cannot help but noticing that they could do better and are surely miles behind leading Asian airports.

The service for passport and security was shocking. Really long queues unhelpful rude security staff - we had to change flights there. Avoid if you can we only just made the connecting plane
