We have engaged with Govgrant for 3 years and found the process very easy to follow. Our contact at Govgrant has taken extra time to understand I'm detail the inner workings of our organisation and how our custom development projects fit into the R&D structure.
Cold calls
Cold call from this outfit. They introduce themselves as "Government Grant" (which is their company name) no doubt chosen specifically to sound official and important. I had to ask them if they were the government or a company. They admitted that they were a company. They insisted that it was not a sales call but a call to raise awareness of R&D tax relief. This is an accountancy service which makes them money, not an awareness call just for the good of their health. Saying it is not a sales call is stretching it a bit. You tried to get me to agree to a visit so you could sell me your services, that makes it a sales call in my book. If you're upfront right from the start that you sell services to help identify possible R&D tax relief etc then you'll create a better first impression. ------------ edit ------------ Thank you for the reply Luke, appreciated.

Steer clear ... a very dodgy business
I had a general enquiry about a complex legal situation with Patent Box. I found them on Google and thought the phone number was a Government dept. or at least Government official/approved. Far from it, as their name is hugely misleading!! It quickly became apparent that they run a very dodgy business model, as they were asking too much about 'our' client and not answering my legal question. I quickly put the phone down. Liam has since, with dubious intent, tracked down and contacted our client - unsolicited cold call (yet again from the review I have seen). Govgrant charge an exorbitant fee for assessing the merits of patenting an invention (which they are unqualified to do!!) and then a fee for being an intermediary with a qualified patent firm. Not a way to do business at all and anyone approaching them should be very, very wary. I'd have given them fewer stars if I could.

We have an excellent market reputation, have been trading since 2006 and are very clear on what we do and what we charge. Our apologise if you found our website confusing, it does not have a .gov address nor do we purport to be a government agency. It is only right we ask details about the client to understand if we can help when we are contacted directly and we would never give flippant advice over the phone, for free, without the required details and client due diligence.
