The Homes.com Paradox
A real estate giant with massive traffic but a 1.2-star rating
Homes.com sits on a digital goldmine—52 million monthly visits and a top-600 global rank—yet it's hemorrhaging user trust with a catastrophic 1.2-star rating. This isn't just a platform; it's a case study in traffic-to-trust disconnect.
"Homes.com proves that scale without satisfaction is just a vanity metric in disguise."
The Traffic Mirage
With 44% organic and 44% direct traffic, Homes.com commands search visibility that competitors dream of. They rank for 'homes' (133K monthly searches) and own branded searches (32K/month). Yet this traffic becomes a liability when conversion funnels break down—explaining the Trustpilot crater.
The Trust Deficit
227 reviews averaging 1.2/5 stars tell a brutal story. For a consumer services company, this isn't just bad—it's existential. The data suggests a platform optimized for listing aggregation over user experience, where sellers and buyers collide without friction management.
The competitive landscape is brutal. Homes.com ranks for 'zillow' (5.5M monthly searches) and 'realtor' (495K searches), showing it's fighting for eyeballs in a saturated market. But capturing searches and capturing loyalty are different battles. The 97.2% 'undefined' country traffic suggests either data tracking issues or a US-centric platform struggling with international visibility—both red flags for scale.
- Traffic dominance without conversion excellence
- Brand recognition without brand love
- Scale without scalable user experience
- Presence without trust

I signed up for a monthly membership…
I signed up for a monthly membership after being very clearly told that matter, Port was part of the service. However, they never disclosed to me that my area was not part of the area covered. The only reason I signed up was specifically for that service. Costing almost $500 a month, the only reason I could rationalize it was to use the matter Port service they were providing. Very manipulative sales tactics and not one true call for any of my properties. Complete waste of money stay away!
Hotel California - You can check out but they won't let you go
Unfortunately, I did not do my research when signing up with Homes.com. Since I had seen them at NAR Conferences, and because Dan Levy is their spokesperson, I believed I could afford them a certain level of trust. I cannot begin to express how betrayed I feel at knowing that I have been duped into something I cannot get out of. I feel like I'm being gas lit as I do not recall ever being told I had to give 30 days notice to terminate my 6 month arrangement; and yet, that's all they keep telling me. And since I didn't terminate quickly enough (I gave my notice 28 days prior to expiration) I am obligated to sign up for another 6 months. There is no clarification regarding termination on the receipt. It just says I bought 6 months of service. I recieved a welcome email as well - again, no instruction or clarification regarding how to terminate the contract. I have looked at every part of my account page and there is no reference to a contract or contract obligation. Another agent in my office signed up with them and he, too, had no idea that to get out from of his agreement, he had to give them 30 days notice. And now, I am reading that others have been experiencing the same thing. They have an F rating with Better Business Bureau and equally poor ratings in Consumer Affairs as well.
Useless. Selling agents won't answer you.
Useless. Listing agents won't answer inquiries when you ask about a property.
I would definitely NOT recommend this…
I would definitely NOT recommend this company. No lead generation at all, poor communication, & unable to cancel after completing an agreed upon 6 month term.
Poor Quality
Homes.com has the audacity to send continuous emails providing reviews of service, when they themselves sport an appalling 1.2 rating. I receive leads from people that I've responded to multiple times in the past, ones that are simply not viable leads, as they've never replied back. I also have people that I speak with direct on the phone, thus having no need to respond to the email. Furthermore, Homes.com doesn't have ownership of these leads. The same people come to us from other sources as well, thus no need to reply via Homes.com. I've complained to Homes.com previously and their answer is that we need to use their portal to respond to clients. At the end of the day, Homes.com relies on the people listing properties. They should remember that it's not the other way around. Very low conversion rate from Homes.com. Save some money on Super Bowl ads and invest in customer service. My opinion.
