Mars.com: The $23B Behemoth's Digital Gamble
How a 110-year-old candy giant is quietly building a digital empire
Mars isn't just the company behind M&Ms and Snickers anymore. With 831K monthly visitors and a $23.6B revenue engine, mars.com is the digital storefront for a 110-year-old empire pivoting from candy aisles to cloud computing.
"Mars isn't disrupting the food industry—they're quietly acquiring it while everyone watches TikTok trends."
The Silent Acquisition Machine
Mars completed the acquisition of Kellanova (formerly Kellogg's snacks division) in 2024, adding $13B in revenue to their portfolio. This isn't a company asking for permission—it's a conglomerate systematically buying shelf space, distribution networks, and consumer loyalty across 80+ countries. Their 9.7M backlinks and 42% organic traffic suggest they've mastered SEO while competitors fight over ad spend.
The Petcare Pivot
While everyone knows Mars for chocolate, their petcare division is the real growth story. With brands like Pedigree, Whiskas, and Royal Canin, Mars Petcare generates more revenue than their confectionery business. The 'Mars Petcare' keyword alone drives 5K monthly searches—people aren't just buying treats, they're searching for nutrition science. This is where the company's future lies: not in candy, but in the $150B global pet industry.
The Trustpilot rating of 1.5/5 from 93 reviews reveals a critical blind spot. For a company with 65,000 employees and €1B EU manufacturing investments, the disconnect between corporate success and consumer satisfaction is stark. It's a classic enterprise problem: scale creates efficiency but erodes authenticity.
- Traffic dominance: 43% direct traffic shows massive brand recall
- Global footprint: Top 5 traffic countries show undefined (likely US/EU/JP) dominance
- Tech stack: Uses jQuery, Tailwind, and Cloudflare—functional but not cutting-edge
- Leadership: CEO Poul Weihrauch focuses on 'Purpose-driven growth' while acquisitions pile up
The Verdict: Scale Over Speed
Mars proves that in enterprise, boring infrastructure wins. They're not building apps—they're buying ecosystems. For founders: learn from their acquisition strategy, but build better consumer touchpoints than their 1.5-star rating suggests.

Mars offers horrible products
Mars offers horrible products, most are full of dyes banned in Europe! M&M’s rate zero out of a 100 on the Yuka app due to all the food coloring! Pop Tarts are full of sugar and should never be given to children! Lucky for Kelloggs for selling these awful products to Mars!
I bought a tub of Celebrations
I bought a tub of Celebrations, when opened there were wrappers inside as if chocolates had been eaten in a sealed tub, so obviously a manufacturing product fault.. I complained to Mars Wrigley with photos, They sent me a £3.00 voucher not even enough to cover the cost of a new tub, cheapest in my area is £4.50 although today Tesco selling for £6.00. Obviously they do not believe in goodwill especially at Christmas. So maybe buy something else and dont bother with this tub of chocolates.
Tub of Celebrations
Tub of Celebrations - the sweets were discoloured, dry and unpleasant to the taste. Customer services were very unhelpful, taking ages to get back to me and then asking me to submit the details all over again. They also employed the classic stalling tactic of asking for photos too. They should be ashamed of supplying confectionery of such a poor standard, and of their lamentable customer care.

I used to love Mars bars 40 years ago…
I used to love Mars bars 40 years ago you hear the Crack as you bit into it because the chocolate was so thick on top. I also liked Maltesers but dang the texture is different the size is ridiculous and small but worse the sugar where's the Malt??? Honestly ruined their reputation they have no loyalty to customers they are now just money hungry but changing ingredients to low quality and to much sugar for half size but double money not acceptable boycott them. Bake a cake and ice it with chocolate chips and get your dessert or chocolate fix that's way.
