Diffusely: Meero's AI Pivot?

From Photography Marketplace to AI-Powered Visual Enhancement: A Deep Dive.

Meero.com, now operating as Diffusely, is attempting a significant transformation. The company is shifting from a photography marketplace to an AI-driven visual enhancement platform, a move that could either revitalize or bury the brand.

"Diffusely is betting big on AI to solve the scalability challenges that plagued Meero's original marketplace model."

Targeting Global Brands

Diffusely's core offering is AI-powered visual enhancement for major brands. Their H1 tagline, 'AI-Powered Visual Enhancement for Leading Global Brands,' signals a clear focus on enterprise clients seeking to streamline photo creation and quality control at scale. This is a departure from their earlier focus on individual photographers and smaller businesses.

Traffic and Brand Awareness

Website traffic is concerningly low at just 578 monthly visits. 44% of this traffic comes from organic search, largely driven by searches for 'Meero,' 'Meero company,' and 'Meero.com.' This suggests that Diffusely is still heavily reliant on its previous brand recognition, and has not yet successfully established a new identity in the market.

The Trustpilot rating of 2.1/5, based on just 9 reviews, is a red flag. While the review count is low, the negative sentiment underscores potential lingering issues from Meero's past operations, which could impact Diffusely's ability to attract and retain clients.

  • AI-driven photo enhancement and quality control.
  • Focus on enterprise clients and global brands.
  • Heavy reliance on the 'Meero' brand name for traffic.
  • Potentially facing reputational challenges from previous Meero operations.
Relying solely on human photographers for scalability
Leveraging AI to automate visual enhancement at scale
Managing a complex marketplace of freelancers
Offering a standardized, consistent product
Inconsistent image quality across the network
Reducing operational overhead and improving efficiency

The reinvention is a gamble.

Diffusely's success hinges on its ability to effectively leverage AI, build a new brand identity, and overcome the negative perceptions associated with its predecessor, Meero.

I am a freelancer photographer who…

I am a freelancer photographer who registered on Meero a while ago but only did my first job with a client who was also there for the first time. Recently I was contacted by someone encouraging doing food photography for Uber Eats. Hm that makes sense in the pandemic. So I did my practice run and got to see the list of assignments. I just did one photoshoot, and here's how I felt. My direct client was called Uber Eats ANZ. Uber Eats ANZ? I never heard of such a company but ok... I went to a branch of liquor store and asked the store manager about the photoshoot. They said they weren't expecting me there because they had a photographer in another branch. Sounds like not enough communication was made. The person provided a completely different brief from what I was expecting, so I asked for someone who might be able to help. Then the store manager called this guy from Uber Eats. Why liquor for Uber Eats? I did not really think it did not make sense at that time. Anyway I started doing my job by taking photos of all the products, then each product. All the instructions of what the store wanted me to shoot were given by the store manager's wife, who was in the different branch. I followed the so-called guideline presented by Meero. True this should be helpful.. I took 2 images per product. According to it I am only required to take 60 photos of 30 products. I started in the morning and there was miscommunication or lack of communication between me and the store. It was already late afternoon and I considered I obviously took more product photos than was required. The store manager still kept piling a bunch of liquor brands, making me feel tired and wonder how long this would take to get done. So I asked the store manager. He said I should not take 2 photos per each product, but I just followed the guideline. We should have agreed on what to take photographs, but the guy from Uber Eats also suggested the same direction. Our argument escalated and the store started saying I wasted their time. So they did mine... The argument went on and I raised my voice, leading to immediately finishing our tasks when I had taken 45 product photos. I took 7 hours to do something that was meant to be done in 2 hours. I felt exhausted and upset, wondering why there was not clear communication between Meero and their client, a big chain liquor store brand and the actual store manager and his wife who knew more than her husband. All the arrangements and experiences could have been better with more clearer communication beforehand, although it certainly would help make it smoother if I initiated the conversation beforehand. At the stage of finding out I took 45 products' photos with a bit less than 90 images, I called the guy from Uber Eats again... He still admitted I did how they expected... and the store manager was not happy. I felt these were not supposed to be all solved by me. The store manager's wife seemed to have a better photographer and they claimed they would complain about me. I also made a report of the client with description of what happened and how we could not come to an agreement on Meero as a form of chats. I wrote a long description like this review. The operator did not even respond (I have no idea if she even read it) and I was advised by the system to rate how the operator did... off course I gave the worst rate to her. Another operator I was talking to about this specific photoshoot asked me if I completed my task. So I said I took enough photos to send. We photographers were advised to send our RAW files to Meero as they had their editing team. I started uploading my photos, but after I dragged and dropped my first raw file on Meero, I became unable to upload more there. So I asked the operator what I should do. She told me to upload on a website called Meerodrop, which seemed to be totally free with no limitation of sizes, that we could upload anything on. But what's inconvenient was I could not see the file names or the images of the raw files I just uploaded at all. As I tested the compressed formats like jpg, pdf created their thumbnails and files names. What's the point of recommending a cloud when they cannot display the format we are supposed to send..? So I asked the operator again, she said to share the link of the folder and she would share with her "producer team", but she had said to send to 2 addresses that seemed to be the support team and partners team. She did not clarify who exactly was behind her and going to review the photos. I just saw the raw files I uploaded were downloaded 3 times. I was contacted by someone from Singapore, as it seemed to be the office that took care of NZ. I figured out the lack of communication was caused by the remote administrators, and probably they do not have enough staff to solve the problems. My second photoshoot went smooth. I recommend using Meero with caution.

What a joke!

What a joke! They made an appointment and they didn't come. We prepared a lot of food for nothing. No phone call, no email. After my complaining they said that there was no photographer in the naberhood. But we had an appointment! You lose at the end, we don't need you.

I joined Uber Eats and was offered photography as part of the package. The day before the shoot, I got confirmation from Meero so I proceeded confidently. I hired staff, cleared my cafe, prepared foods but no phtographer ever turned up. No phone calls form anyone until I treathen legal action and received a generic e-mail saying the session was cancelled 5 hours later. Shamefull and no respect for businesses that spend moneys for shoot. I wouldn't deal with Meero. Wish there was a xero rating!

AW BOY.

AW BOY. Where to start. So our salon recently signed a contract with Treatwell, as a part of the package they book us a “professional” photographer. I was told that the shop should be clean, without any customers…. otherwise I would be fine. So on the day of appointment the photographer send me a message that his late, after 45 min he called and told that he’s at the wrong address, and he wouldn’t attend to appointment because it’s too far. After I send many emails to Treatwel they book me another session with a photographer (let’s don’t call him professional). Another 2 hours without the customers (because there shouldn’t be a customers in the shop during the photoshoot) and … yes after 30 min of the appointment time the photographer told me that his at different address!!!!!!!!!!! The called me 2 days before the appointment to confirm the address, how ???? It’s a professional photoshoot companies really???? Who gonna pay me for 4 hours customers free???? I don’t understand why Treatwell deal with meero companies. This people it’s a joke. And of course you can’t call/message them.

The payment is below any standard

The payment is below any standard. I can not image that any professional photographer will work for conditions offered from Meero - accordingly the photos clients receive will reflect that. Not recommended!
