Oral-B.com: A High-Volume Brand with a Trust Problem
Deep dive into the digital strategy of a P&G dental giant with 1.3-star reviews
Oral-B is a household name with household problems. Despite commanding over 800,000 monthly visits and dominating search for 'best electric toothbrush,' the brand is hemorrhaging trust—scoring a dismal 1.3/5 on Trustpilot. This isn't just a website; it's a case study in the friction between brand equity and digital experience.
"They own the search intent for 'best electric toothbrush' but fail to own the customer experience."
The SEO Juggernaut
Oral-B's traffic isn't accidental—it's engineered. They capture 54% of their traffic through organic search, dominating high-intent keywords like 'oral b electric toothbrush' (28.7K monthly searches) and 'best electric toothbrush' (51.3K). This is textbook brand search dominance, but the real story is what happens after the click: users land on a site powered by a complex tech stack (jQuery, Tailwind, Bootstrap) that feels more like a corporate portal than a modern DTC experience.
The Trust Paradox
With 903 Trustpilot reviews and a 1.3-star rating, Oral-B faces a critical disconnect. The data suggests a high volume of post-purchase frustration, likely stemming from subscription cancellations, product issues, or customer service failures. For a P&G-owned brand in the health industry, this reputation risk is significant—especially when competing against agile DTC brands that prioritize customer experience over pure scale.
The site's architecture reveals a hybrid model: it serves as both an e-commerce platform and an educational resource for oral hygiene. However, the user journey is fragmented. Key pages like 'login' and 'contact' exist, but the privacy policy points to PG.com, and terms link to P&G's global domain. This creates a disjointed experience where the Oral-B brand feels like a sub-brand rather than a cohesive digital property.
- Traffic dominance in high-intent dental health keywords
- Heavy reliance on P&G's corporate infrastructure (terms, privacy)
- Complex tech stack suggesting legacy systems and modern overlays
- Social presence across all major platforms (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram)
Scale Without Soul
Oral-B proves that traffic doesn't equal trust. For investors and founders, the lesson is clear: optimize for customer experience, not just search volume.

Recently Purchased an Oral B iO
The instructions for the device are printed on a 26 page multi language pamphlet. Along with this there is a 10 page pictorial leaflet in colour. The pictorial leaflet makes very little sense as it contains no notes of explanation and there seems no link to the written pamphlet. The iO is at least double the price of the Oral B but I have no idea what it does any better than the Oral B
Worst Customer Service Ever
The order was placed 46 days ago and never left the warehouse. We started contacting customer service immediately, and for 35 days they kept telling us, “we’re looking into it.” I tried to make them understand that the order would never arrive and that it would have been appropriate to send a replacement. No chance. After an exhausting back-and-forth and endless “we are looking into it,” they only canceled the order today—after 46 days!! No apology, no discount voucher for a future purchase, and no alternative solution. They decided everything on their own without even consulting us. So, 46 days later, with money spent that we don’t know when we’ll see again, countless emails sent, and time and patience wasted, we’re back to square one: without a toothbrush and with our money still tied up. I’ve never seen worse service—no wonder they have a 1.3 rating on this platform, and they don’t even have the decency to respond to reviews.
CUSTOMER CARE IS RIDICULOUS
so i am a faithful oral b consumer who has purchased many brushes and accessories over time. All my family use their products , howerev i bought an IO8 and immediately had issues with it and againwith replacement, mainly charging problems, well this is my third one and wont charge. MY main review is that the customer care is atrosius , they dont reply or pass on messages and one cant talk to the other or so it seems, Four months i have now been struggling to get response from them and then they tell me they have no knowlege.AFTER CARE IS A NO GO SO DONT SPEND HUNDREDS OF POUND PEOPLE
iO is not made for weak handed people! iO can break easliy! Please, Oral-B I dont want AI!!!!!
So I had one previous the classic one modell that was popular from 2010-2017 like before the model iO version launched. I had the old one like 10 years. So I have bought model iO 5 and the funny fact that one you have accidently dropped the brush.. you are doomed. Luckly I had my warranty, and it sure covered but saw the price cost 100$. Now today, with this machine that I had for just 2 years, I have simply slant my brush. It has stopped working. I have checked from reddit and other sites to see if im the only one struggling this problem - and I am not! iO is the worse model they have ever produced. A toothbrush that it for sure brush so great on our teeth but not made for morning tired people or to people who has weak hands! Oral-B you have wasted money on engineers or did you used by AI to design up? Please no AI on next model for god sake, I rather go to a dentis who is a human than listening to binary code made one.
