I am currently trialling Phonak Sphere hearing aids through Connect Hearing in Albany Western. Sarah and her team are fantastic.
A good iPhone is essential for app towork
I have had my hearing aids a year now and find them very good. Buying from boots allowed me to get much better ones them from the nhs you do however need a good iPhone no more than 3 Years old for the app to work effectly. I have a good connection getting phone calls through my aids and listening to U tube is a pleasure. As for customer service, Harry at maidenhead boots has been excellent
Lousy app
I have had phonac hearing AIDS for 5 years and like them very much, but they recently change their app, and it's horrible. Instead of being able to decide what setting you want, the app now decides for you, and it's rarely ever correct.
Expensive, poor Bluetooth streaming, no noise cancellation
Audiologist recommended these and I wanted to get some help, but they are a royal pain to keep connected. I'm tech savvy enough to know that it's ridiculous, on a product that costs as much as 4 MacBook Airs, to have to regularly delete the MyPhonak app, restart my iPhone, and then reload the app -- all just to fix the Bluetooth connection!!! I fully intended to use these for years to help some with hearing and even more with tinnitus. But after 3 years, I've probably only used them an average of one hour per month — after trying REALLY hard in the first couple of months to master them, with repeated visits to the audiologist, who set up custom profiles for me, etc. Another big regret: I went for the most expensive model of Audeo L90 RT, partly because I wanted to stream audio content and use them for phone calls. But even after getting silicones domes installed, the noise canceling it PITIFUL -- can't hear music when at the gym with all the background noise, and worse, can't use them for calls in a co-working office space for the same reason (to mention I'd have to talk quite loud for the Phonak mic). Upshot: they're not very useful for play or work! ...only for using occasionally around the house to hear my spouse better. In end, I use my Apple AirPods Pro 2 all the time because they cancel out noise great and I can do phone calls in the loudest surroundings and the person I'm speaking with does hear any of it, and I don't have to use a loud voice for them to hear me. Wish I'd just bought some hearing enhancers from Costco for occasional use (in a group when some people don't speak up much, etc) and just stick with AirPods for everything else. Probably my worst financial decision in the past decade.
For the amount of money that these cost…
For the amount of money that these cost your app is junk. I work with computers on a daily basis I understand computers. Whenever I finally reinstall your app it will work until I turned my phone off and turned it back on and then it's a cycle to restart all over again. I would never recommend these. I use my hearing aids for several different bluetooth applications not only on my phone but also on the television and the computer. Anytime I change from one to the other I have to uninstall your app and reinstall it in order for it to connect to whatever device I am attempting to use.
