Brodies: The Scottish Law Firm That Outperforms the Web
How a 1,100-person legal powerhouse generates 37K monthly visits with minimal digital footprint
In the digital age, most law firms are invisible. Brodies is different. With 37K monthly visits and a #793K global rank, this Scottish firm proves that deep expertise beats SEO hacks every time. Here's why their strategy works—and why it matters.
"Brodies doesn't chase traffic—it attracts authority. Their visitors aren't browsing; they're solving complex legal problems."
The Trust Paradox
Brodies operates in a paradox: 61% of traffic comes from organic search, yet their keyword strategy reveals sophisticated intent targeting. Searches like 'how to design a national road accident compensation fund' (140 monthly volume) aren't casual—they're high-stakes. The firm captures premium clients through content that answers specific, complex questions rather than generic legal queries.
The Human Infrastructure
With 1,107 employees generating $418.4M in revenue, Brodies achieves $378K per employee—exceptional for legal services. Key leaders like Julian Voge (Owner), Keith Patterson (Head Projects), and Isobel d'Inverno (Head Corporate Tax) represent a structure where specialists don't just practice law—they build systems. This isn't a traditional partnership; it's a legal operating company.
The tech stack reveals their dual nature: modern tools (Vite, PWA, Tailwind) layered over legacy systems. They're building for the future while serving clients who value stability over innovation. Their 2.6/5 Trustpilot rating from 6 reviews suggests either a narrow review strategy or a client base that doesn't prioritize online feedback—both telling signals for a firm of this scale.
- Revenue per employee: $378K—top quartile for UK law firms
- 61% organic traffic indicates strong content strategy, not paid acquisition
- Specialized keyword targeting (e.g., '180 days France own home Brits') reveals sophisticated client profiling
- Modern tech stack (Vite, PWA) suggests digital transformation in progress
The Blueprint for Professional Services Digital Strategy
Brodies proves that in B2B legal services, depth of expertise beats breadth of reach. Their 37K monthly visitors aren't just numbers—they're qualified leads solving million-pound problems.

5 year old birthday party! 😊
Booked a birthday party for my 5 year old daughter, The staff were so polite, helpful and cheerful here, made you feel really welcome, it was also lovely and clean! All the children really enjoyed themselves. Amazing day!! Will be going back there for definite!!😊
I would advise to avoid
Having been verbally and mentally abused by their client, they sent me a rather poor quality and patronising response, talking down to me, belittling my suffering their client caused and they harm that they did, their arguments are poor quality and laughable, if you are a client looking to lose your case look no further, if you are a claimant looking to win a case you are in luck and their solicitors are poor in terms of legal arguments and they are highly incompetent and talk down to you and also threaten you. They should be disbarred
I would strongly advise anyone considering Brodies LLP to think again.
⭐☆☆☆☆ I would strongly advise anyone considering Brodies LLP to think again. I recently received a letter from them on behalf of a family member, and it was one of the poorest pieces of legal correspondence I’ve ever seen. Instead of addressing the facts, it was full of baseless accusations, threats of harassment and defamation, and intimidation tactics. The letter ignored the findings of the Office of the Public Guardian, which had already properly investigated the matter, and tried to paint legitimate safeguarding concerns as “malicious” or “frivolous.” In my view, this shows: Poor professionalism – the letter looked hastily drafted, without regard to evidence or context. Weak client service – Brodies seemed more interested in intimidation than legal merit. Reputation issues – their approach matches the many negative reviews you can find online about high fees, slow service, and lack of empathy. A good law firm should resolve disputes constructively and advise clients realistically. Instead, Brodies’ heavy-handed tactics only inflame situations and undermine trust. If you want quality, considered legal advice, avoid Brodies LLP. There are far better firms out there who won’t waste your time (or your opponent’s) with meritless threats and poorly thought-out letters.

Currently trying to sue this company…
Currently trying to sue this company for professional negligence, absolutely shocking methods of practice this company uses. In the process of submitting a complaint to the SLCC, paid over 30K in solicitors fees and the only thing I have to vouch for it is un-itemized invoices. I have never met such an incompetent company.
