ExamOne: The Invisible Giant of Health Risk Assessment
A Quest Diagnostics subsidiary quietly dominating financial underwriting data
In the shadow of its parent company, ExamOne operates as a data powerhouse that most founders never see—yet it processes health insights for millions of financial decisions daily. This isn't a startup; it's a $1.2B revenue engine hiding in plain sight.
"They don't sell software—they sell risk models wrapped in a portal experience that locks in enterprise clients for decades."
The B2B2C Trojan Horse
ExamOne's genius lies in its dual-sided marketplace. Insurance companies buy risk assessments, while consumers unknowingly feed the data machine through medical exams. With 429K monthly visits, 76% arrive directly—proof of entrenched workflows, not viral marketing. This isn't growth hacking; it's enterprise lock-in.
The Traffic Paradox
Here's the counterintuitive insight: only 15% of traffic comes from organic search, yet they rank for 'quest labs' (41K monthly volume). The real moat? Direct traffic. When your users bookmark your portal and bypass Google entirely, you've achieved what SaaS founders dream of: a dependency disguised as convenience.
The Trustpilot score of 1.7/5 from 20 reviews reveals the brutal truth of B2B2C platforms. Consumers don't choose ExamOne—insurance companies do. The friction points (portal logins, teleinterviews, CRL-plus systems) are endured, not enjoyed. For product teams, this is a masterclass in designing for the buyer, not the end user.
- Tech stack reveals modernization efforts: Tailwind CSS, Ant Design, and DaisyUI coexist—a sign of legacy migration in progress
- Social presence is corporate-standard (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram) but engagement likely driven by HR, not product marketing
- The 'undefined' countries in traffic analytics suggest either tracking issues or a hyper-concentrated US market—both telling signals
The Unsexy Billion-Dollar Playbook
ExamOne proves that in regulated industries, the best products aren't loved—they're indispensable. For founders, the lesson is clear: solve a compliance problem so thoroughly that customers can't leave, even if they want to.

Margaret Owden professional lady
Margaret Owden. This lady deserve more than 5 stars. She is someone I would want on my team if I had one. Professionalism on point, her personality alone tells you that she cares.
RUDE Old Man
I had gone in early for an appointment earlier then expected, I called ahead spoke to a female on the phone was very helpful and communicated with me she would attempt to help me out depending on her scheduled appointments I was ok to wait, I check in a older male attends to me asking for my name, first off I thought he was very RUDE to me regarding my arrival and I over hear him rudely explaining to the female that attended me after explaining to her the same way he explained it to me If that's the office manager I feel terrible how the females have to deal with that in a female industry clinical setting all though both females at the front were very helpful sorry Ive forgotten there names Thank you for making the appointment easy and a successful blood draw after I explained to her I'm a difficult draw she got me on the first try thank you for making me comfortable, I complaint to both females about that man I doubt they said anything to anyone so here I am posting it for someone to actually listen somewhere
Terrible experience
Terrible experience, the examiner was extremely rude. It was so bad that I made her leave and didn’t complete the exam
No show for home appointment
I scheduled an appointment for 8:45 am at 9:33 i called the nurse for no answer. I then text to have no response. After the third time of reaching out she answered to tell me that she had written my appointment down but failed to enter it into her schedule. I had been waiting over an hour to do a urine test . Completely unprofessional. I would recommend using a regular Healthcare provider instead of waiting for someone not to show up.
If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would. My insurance exam with ExamOne was scheduled with Quest Diagnostics. When I arrived @ Quest Diagnostics, I was ahead of time for my appointment. There were 2 women in line ahead of me trying to check in using the digital check-in kiosk...both of them had problems navigating the kiosk. By the time I got to the kiosk, and successfully logged on, I got an automated message notifying me that I was late for my appointment and that I would have to call the office to make another appointment. I was not happy about that, and when one of the only two attendants on duty came out to call the next client, I asked about the problem. She told me that I was late signing in...when I explained that I was late because the two clients ahead of me also had problems with the kiosk, she just repeated her answer. It took several minutes to get her to listen to me instead of giving me the standard reply, and then she just told me to wait and see if they could get me in. A few minutes later, a different attendant came out and took me back for my exam. She explained to me that there were only 2 attendants on duty, and that they were aware of the kiosk problem and complaints, and had reported it to corporate many times without success. I asked for a tissue, and she told me they did not have tissues and directed me to the bathroom and told me I could use toilet paper. I went to the bathroom...there was no soap...not even a soap dispenser...not one on the wall, and not one on the sink. There was no way for me to wash my hands. When I got back to the exam room, I told the tech and she said they don't supply soap. She did, thankfully, use gloves and clean my skin with an alcohol wipe before drawing blood, but there was no way for me to wash my hands or for her to wash her hand, in the exam room, and no way for anyone to wash their hands in the bathroom. The tech did a good job with the blood draw, but Quest was the most disorganized, ill supplied, inconsiderate, understaffed medical office I've ever visited. Do not waste your time with Quest.
