Took forever to open an avvount in…
Took forever to open an account in person. Tried to do it online but it wouldn't accept it. Then I get an account opened and when I try to enroll in the online app I am forced to create a password with so many requirements that the algorithim doesn't even realize when I have met the requirements and still gives me crap. I did finally get logged into the app only to later on find out that I could not login again. When I tried to retrieve my password I got a spam call telling me how a cow makes a mooo sound.
10/10 do not recommend.
My husband and I have been GECU customers for over five years and repeatedly faced overdraft/insufficient funds fees. Despite multiple contacts—via email, chat, and in-person meetings—we were assured that deposits made before EOD would prevent fees, only to later be told fees were assessed immediately. After an in-person meeting, we were told our account was corrected, yet the fees persisted—even when we weren’t actively using the account. Frustrated, we decided to close our accounts in February 2025. When my husband first visited, a rep identified an issue but needed manager approval, promising a callback that never came. Upon returning, we learned our "Overdraft Protection" was incorrectly set up, causing funds to pull from both checking accounts instead of savings, resulting in duplicate $64 fees—totaling over $800 across both accounts. GECU admitted fault and escalated our refund request but later denied it. When we returned to close the account, the manager visibly avoided us, and after much back-and-forth, refused to remove even the most recent charges unless further escalated. Fed up, we walked out. This bank’s outdated systems, poor communication, and lack of accountability cost us hundreds. We will never recommend GECU. 10/10 do not recommend.
