GlobalData: The AI-Powered Intelligence Engine
How a 3,000-person data giant is outmaneuvering legacy research firms with speed and scale
GlobalData isn't just another market research firm—it's a data factory. With 3,191 employees and $625M in revenue, they've built an intelligence platform that processes unique datasets at AI speed, leaving traditional analyst firms in the dust.
"They're not selling reports—they're selling decision velocity. Every minute saved is a competitive advantage won."
The Enterprise Machine
With 3,191 employees, GlobalData operates like a precision-engineered intelligence factory. Their org chart reads like a Fortune 500 playbook: Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief People Officer. This isn't a startup—it's a scaled B2B data empire with the infrastructure to match. The revenue per employee sits at ~$196K, competitive for a data services business.
Growth Story & Traffic Dynamics
553K monthly visits with 51% coming from organic search—that's a moat. Their brand dominates: 'globaldata' alone drives 36K monthly searches. They've built such strong brand equity that even misspellings ('global data') capture 15K searches. The 5.4M backlinks suggest they've become the default reference point in business intelligence, not just a vendor.
Their tech stack reveals their playbook: jQuery, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap for rapid iteration, plus lazy loading and priority hints for performance. They're not building bleeding-edge tech—they're optimizing for speed and scale. The 2.5/5 Trustpilot rating from 6 reviews is a red flag for a company this size, suggesting enterprise clients may be satisfied while SMBs struggle.
- Brand dominance: 'globaldata' captures 36K monthly searches organically
- Traffic quality: 51% organic vs 39% direct indicates strong SEO moat
- Enterprise scale: $625M revenue with 3,191 employees
- Backlink authority: 5.4M links suggest industry dominance
The Verdict: Scale Over Sentiment
GlobalData proves that in B2B data, enterprise contracts trump consumer reviews. Their 2.5/5 rating is irrelevant when you're serving Fortune 500 decision-makers who value speed over sentiment. For founders: this is a blueprint for building a data empire—focus on organic search dominance and enterprise sales, not consumer satisfaction.

Pressure selling and high prices leave a bad taste...
Global Data have a large library of papers they have put together aimed at industry researchers. Their paywall is a robust barrier to casual research and their prices are absolutely ridiculously high, when one looks at other organisations putting out similar research, and finds that is is often either free of measurable in the 10's of US Dollars to purchase. Not so for Global Data. They want an enormous £400GBP for one of their papers. If you turn them down for the offer, they give you a phone call and attempt to sell. I told them they were too expensive, and was told a 20% discount was their maximum. This was still a very expensive product, so I politely declined. At this point, they add you to a daily mailing list where they pester you for the sale. Now, just before I unsubscribed, I was offered a short time only, 50% discount code. (Note this is more than double their supposed maximum discount from the phone). Pressure sales tactics clearly in use with this company. I DO NOT recommend anybody purchases from this company unlessthey have somehow put together research which you cannot replicate elsewhere. And I strongly caution anybody against inputting details to their website. I for one, lived to regret it. 2 stars, because I suspect there is some quality to the work they have put together, but it is a shame that this quality is so undermined by bad sales practices, and silly pricing. I advise the company to review their pricing structure against other sources IN TOPIC. And to let go of aggressive sales for a more honest approach. I believe it will sustain you better in the long run.
Agressive selling, no customer service!
Very agressive selling, as mentioned by the other reviews too. Booked a demo and this actually seems like a great tool to find new leads. Pressuring to make a quick decision, offering great discounts. Even saying the first three months are like the free trial they normally offer - should have known it was too good to be true. We found during the onboarding that several options shown during the demo were "not in our package," which wasn't clear. Now, after the normal trial period, we want to cancel as it is not yielding even half the results expected and the tool is hard to navigate, they obviously won't let us go. Have already spoken to four different people, eveytime saying they'll "discuss internally." Now there's a big invoice that they won't waive either, despite them being the ones dragging this along. Deeply, deeply regret not reading these reviews sooner! As someone else mentions here: RUN, don't engage.
Run away quickly.
Never make contact with them as they’ll never leave you alone. My experience is inline with the other poor reviews. In one such occasion, they used number masking software, which ensured their number came up as a company in the local biotech incubator. As such, I answered and thereafter another cycle of pressure selling starts. I would never recommend them for any of the companies I work with. Never, never use them.
Never work with Global Data
Global Data have been phoning me for years. Everytime I plead with them to remove me from their system. They say yes and then they phone me again. They are underhand and disrespectful. I will NEVER authorise any team or company that I am with to buy from them. Sharp practice is sharp practice and it starts at the point of sale.
