Keeping a Hanse yacht is difficult
Buying a Hanse yacht is easy, keeping a Hanse yacht is difficult. Think twice. Hanse is known for one of the worst after sales service compared to competitors. One problem is the attitude of the company: They don't talk to customers. Even if you have a urgent informational need about a problem with their yacht, you will not get an answer. The owner's manuals are written quite inaccurate, leaving you very often wth the task to find out by trying. And since they try to sell their yachts desperately, they align with anybody, who might sell a yacht, but does not have the team, the infrastructure and the experience to help you with problems. It start's with commissioning. If you did not have a yacht before you bought Hanse, forget it. The advise and introduction you might get to the quite complex systems of a yacht is lousy at best. And whenever you come across a problem, neither Hanse nor the dealer will be of help. I emailed to Hanse about a problem and told them, that I have already checked with the dealer who did not have a solution/idea either - no response. It's pretty embarassing when you think about the several hundred thousands of Euros you spent for the yacht. So, stay away from a string of problems and frustrations and buy yourself a yacht from a company that serves their customers well.

For my fun, in 2008, I decided to buy a sailing yacht of 19 metres from Hanse Yacths Germany. With it I chose the lifting keel. Never choise was so wrong! The lifting keel never worked and caused serious damage with infiltration of sea water in the sanguish of the hull. I made arrangements with the manufacturer to change the keel with a normal one and request the damage reinbursement. It took two judgments from the Court in Italy in order to get the full recognition of about € 350.000 but, at the end, for an applicazion of european law, not only have I not been reimbursed, but I have to go to the Courts in Germany to give me the damage. The case will be discussed in the second half of 2022 and in the meantime I continue to pay Lawyers and Experts that are now over hundreds of thousands of Euro. The moral of the history ? Even for your fun and to stay relaxed with it, buy what is available in your Country and...after all... not everything produced in Germany is the best ! And perhaps with people who speak your language, you can have more consideration!
