I had an NVMe SSD in my Hetzner server…
I had an NVMe SSD in my Hetzner server that started reporting a SMART health FAILED status because the Percentage Used value went above 100% (wear level exceeded). Support explained clearly that this warning is triggered by the NVMe specification once the manufacturer’s rated endurance is exceeded, and that the drive can still operate normally as long as Available Spare remains above the threshold. Even though it was technically a “wear indicator” situation, they still offered a replacement as a gesture of goodwill. I accepted, and they handled the replacement quickly and professionally. What I really appreciated was the combination of technical competence and clear communication: they didn’t just paste a generic answer, they explained what the warning actually means in practice, and then they acted fast when I asked for the swap. After the replacement, I was able to rebuild/resync my software RAID without issues. Overall: fast response, honest explanations, and excellent customer care. Hetzner support is genuinely top-notch.

I've been with Hetzner for about a year and they're an excellent provider. I host three websites and a lichess bot on their cheapest plan and I've never had any issues, and the VPS is overpowered for what I'm using it for even on the cheapest plan.
