The Last-Mile Giant Hiding in Plain Sight
Why OnTrac is the quiet logistics force powering 70% of US commerce
While FedEx and UPS dominate the headlines, a silent giant named OnTrac (formerly LaserShip) is executing a hyper-aggressive last-mile strategy that reaches 70% of the US population. This isn't just a regional carrier—it's a data-driven alternative network quietly eating the legacy logistics market from the inside out.
"84% direct traffic isn't a marketing metric—it's proof of a sticky, operational dependency. When you need a package delivered, you don't search for alternatives; you go straight to OnTrac."
The Rebrand Pivot
The domain lasership.com now redirects to OnTrac.com—a strategic consolidation after acquiring OnTrac in 2021. This wasn't just a name change; it was a calculated move to leverage OnTrac's established brand equity while integrating LaserShip's East Coast density. The result? A unified network that spans from New York to California, with the operational agility to outmaneuver legacy carriers on speed and cost.
The Silent Volume Driver
With 2,577 employees and over 1,100 in annual revenue, OnTrac operates at a scale that rivals mid-sized public companies. But here's the kicker: 84% of their traffic is direct. This isn't a B2C brand fighting for attention—it's a B2B infrastructure layer. E-commerce giants and mid-market retailers don't 'browse' OnTrac; they integrate it via API, making it an invisible yet critical component of modern logistics.
The keyword data reveals a telling story: 'lasership' and 'lasership tracking' dominate search volume. This isn't brand curiosity—it's operational anxiety. Customers are hunting for packages, not exploring services. The low 7% organic search traffic indicates a business model built on contracts, not conversions. OnTrac isn't selling to consumers; it's the backbone for retailers who've already made the sale.
- Alternative carrier network that bypasses USPS/FedEx congestion
- 70% US population coverage with hyper-local last-mile density
- API-first integration model for enterprise retailers
- Aggressive expansion via acquisition (LaserShip/OnTrac merger)
The Infrastructure Play No One's Watching
OnTrac isn't fighting for brand love—it's becoming the invisible utility layer of last-mile delivery. For investors and founders, this is a masterclass in B2B infrastructure: solve the pain point so well that customers never leave, even if they don't love you.

Zero Stars - Scammers with Dr. Squatch Soap Company
It began with a text messaging claiming my Dr. Squatch order was "out for delivery" although I never received a "shipped" notification from the seller. That status remained for SEVEN DAYS without anything showing up. I filed reports with Lasership and Dr. Squatch but was only provided with auto generated replies from AI chat bots. Dr. Squatch didn’t want to intervene so I filed a claim with my bank. After 10+ days the package was listed as "delivered to front porch" with a time stamp of 3:00pm. We were home as furniture was being delivered at that time and NEVER did a package delivery company arrive let alone leave a package at my home. Dr. Squatch literally told me to wait an additional 48 hours as the "delivered" status could be recorded EARLY by the company even if the package was not actually delivered. Clearly the two companies have shady business practices and I would steer clear of this company and anyone who uses Lasership.
Delivered the same order to the wrong…
Delivered the same order to the wrong address TWICE! The initial order and the reshipment. I am at a loss of words to be honest
Didn’t receive my package
Didn’t receive my package . Package wasn’t delivered. Don’t know if WORKERS are STEALING my packages.
They will use any excuse not to…
They will use any excuse not to deliver.Gets dark?Go home.A few flakes of snow?Go home. And of course, don't try again later.Just keep the items for yourselves.I just had Wal-mart issue me a refund on an item Lasership/Ontrac refuses to deliver. They usually use Fed-ex,which is always excellent.
LaserShip is a joke. Why are these type of companies still in business?
This idiot driver left my large and extremely heavy package at the end of my driveway right beside my mailbox and right by the road. What the heck was he thinking? Not only could someone have easily grabbed it and stolen it, there is a stray dog that roams around my house and has already destroyed several of my packages. I actually had ro drive my car to the end of my driveway because I have physical limitations and could not carry it all the way down my driveway. Thats just so inconsiderate. I have made several complaints on the different delivery companies because that is not the first time a driver has done that. Then, I had one driver leave my package in the middle of my driveway. I also saw on my ring door cam, a driver tossing my package on my porch with no regard for what was in it. BTW, I have a screened in front porch and in my notes for delivery for most delivery companies to put any packages inside my mailbox or by my front door to keep from getting stolen, the strays getting them and to keep them from the elements. This particular package came from a supplier from walmart.com. I have notes on the app for deliveries. I am very skeptical about buying anything else from walmart.com because they are using the cheapest delivery companies available. Tiktok is another big one that uses cheap companies like Ontrac. It is so disgusting what these drivers do to our stuff that we pay hard earned money for. I am so pissed. I dont feel like these companies even care what their drivers do anymore. Its such a shame.
