Lavazza.com: The Digital Pivot of a 129-Year-Old Coffee Giant
How legacy brand Lavazza is navigating the digital coffee market with a 1.5-star Trustpilot rating.
Lavazza isn't just selling coffee beans anymore; they are selling a subscription to the Italian morning. But with a fragmented digital presence and a surprising lack of direct-to-consumer dominance, the official website reveals a legacy brand struggling to fully digitize its century-old legacy.
"A brand with $4.9B in revenue and a 129-year history shouldn't have a Trustpilot score lower than a startup on day one."
The Traffic Paradox
Lavazza.com attracts roughly 240,000 monthly visitors—a respectable number for a niche category. However, the data reveals a critical split: 44% comes from organic search (people hunting for 'Lavazza Super Crema'), while 37% is direct traffic. This indicates strong brand equity but weak conversion optimization. Users know the name, but the site isn't capturing them as efficiently as it should.
The Tech Stack Dilemma
The site relies on a heavy stack of legacy frameworks (jQuery, Bootstrap, Slick) mixed with modern elements like Tailwind CSS and PWA capabilities. While functional, this suggests a 'patchwork' approach rather than a unified digital strategy. For a company of this size, the lack of a headless commerce architecture limits their agility in rolling out region-specific offers or rapid A/B testing.
The SEO strategy is aggressive but narrow. The top organic keywords are hyper-specific product names like 'Lavazza Crema e Gusto' and 'Lavazza Dek.' While this dominates branded search, it leaves a massive gap in acquiring new customers searching for generic terms like 'best Italian espresso beans' or 'sustainable coffee pods.' They are winning the battles for their own name, but losing the war for the broader market.
- Global Rank #175,791: Solid, but leaves massive room for growth compared to competitors like Nespresso.
- Backlink Profile: 167,190 links is a strong authority signal, yet it's underutilized for non-branded keyword ranking.
- Social Integration: Active YouTube and Instagram presence, but the website lacks deep social commerce integration.
- Fragmented Privacy: The privacy policy points to a 'prenew.lavazza.it' subdomain, suggesting ongoing infrastructure migration.
The Espresso Machine is Ready, The Digital Engine Needs a Tune-Up
Lavazza has the product and the history, but their digital storefront is playing catch-up to modern DTC coffee brands.

Perfetto e perfetta
This is a review of Lavazza USA. I'm sorry I can't give them 10 stars. First, this is the best brand of coffee on the supermarket shelf. (I suggest ordering from their website: more variety and they are fresher than the shelf stock.) Lavazza is one of very few brands in the supermarket that offers 100% Arabica coffee. Their espresso beats Starbucks by a mile. But I am writing this review about Lavazza USA Customer Service. They are polite, communicative, and deserve the highest accolades for their willingness to rectify and please the customer. I have never had such a positive experience with a company's CSRs as with Lavazza USA . . . And more that once and with different reps: Jorge and Aileen. No company is perfect but they are the closest to it that you will find.
Contrary to several reviews!!
Contrary to several reviews i had a wonderful experiance with the US Customer service in NY. On Friday 9/19 25 i called customer service about my Classy Plus machine shorting the amount of expresso being dispersed and the double shot not functioning. I was transfered to their service technician who asked very few questions and then wanted to join my phones camera to view the issues. He gave me several test task to do while he viewed the machines operation. Within 6 minutes he determined the mother board had failed and he would send the customer service rep a report that the machine had failed and should be replaced. Later that Friday evening 9/19 I received a emai from the customer service rep. ( " Ms. "K") asking only when and where i had obtained the machine. On Tuesday the 23rd customer sercice orded their warehouse to ship me a replacement Classy Plus. Fed x received the machine on Wednesday the 23rd and it was delivered Saturday the 27th. I can't speak to any others prior service experiance but I found the Lavazza customer and my assigned rep Excellent. 9/27/25. John A. Naples Fl.
Good coffee, service needs improvement though
I love lavazza coffee they are one of the best coffee in my opinion. I had a unpleasant experience of subscription recently, some how they had a system error that missed my machine. The lady who picked up my call was effective but a bit rude, she did not apologize for what happened and the inconvenience, well but she did reported my issue and I can tell they are trying to fix it. So I'd love to give them another chance to make everything right, and if I could get my refund and machine on time, I'll be their long term customers still.
Coffee YES / Mugs and Accessories NO
I always liked Lavazza coffee, so i ordered 3 bags of coffee beans and few other accessories, BIG MISTAKE. The coffee is decent, but the quality of their Cups and Mugs are terrible. The Logo on one of the Mugs is printed sideways, and the coffee clip/scoop feels like something you get from TEMU. Get Illy Mugs and accessories instead. Also, their customer service is a joke.
Dear customer, many thanks for getting in touch. We're sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied with the quality of the products you ordered. We'd be happy if you're giving our accessories another try and are happy that you're enjyoing our coffee. We're wishing you a merry Christmas and a good start into the new year! Coffee, Stress & a Screwdriver
One morning, instead of enjoying a cup of coffee from my espresso machine, I was greeted by a horrible grinding noise from the grinder. No coffee that day, just an evening spent disassembling the machine and pulling out a foreign object from the grinder, which came from a pack of Lavazza Crema e Aroma. It wasn’t a coffee bean, it was a hard piece that jammed the mechanism. Luckily, I managed to remove it and fix the machine myself, but it cost me a lot of nerves and the entire evening. I truly feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have a knack for repairs, because they’d be looking at a trip to the service center and a hefty repair bill. And in return? Lavazza sent me two packs of coffee. Yep. Two packs for a jammed grinder, wasted time, stress, a dozen emails, and having to stay home for a courier pickup of the remaining coffee and the mystery object. It feels almost disrespectful. I seriously doubt they don’t know what things cost, especially considering their coffee isn’t exactly cheap. Communication with Lavazza was fairly smooth, and the coffee, when it doesn’t come with surprises, tastes good. But after this experience? Thanks, Lavazza, but I’m done. Two stars for two packs. Though honestly, it should’ve been one, and I think you know that.
Dear customer, thank you for your feedback and we're very sorry to hear about the stress that this matter has caused you. We hope to see you again as a customer at some point in the future and are wishing you a very merry Christmas time! Best Your Lavazza Kundenservice HOME Team
