We couldn't get a partial refund
We've booked our trip around Mykonos island for July 2021! We were all really excited about the trip but a bit disappointed in the end. They say that Mykonos is "the island of the winds" and it is indeed! So, we arrived to Mykonos by ferry on Friday; the charter owner was very kind and they helped us with our luggage. They had already informed us that the wind is very strong so we won't be able to go and see the small islands around the area; we said that this is alright and in the worst case scenario we'll go and visit all the beaches around Mykonos island. We stayed there for 3 nights (Friday-Monday) and the wind was really strong during those days, therefore we were not able to go anywhere (it was not easy to take the "ok" from the greek port authorities). As a result, we stayed in the marine for all those days; we ended up renting a car and see the most popular places in the island. Also, on Sunday the owner of the charter brought us some local pastries from a bakery which was a very nice thing to do. Moreover, they arranged for us a quick boat tour around the southern beaches (we went to the south of Mykonos with our car, to Paraga beach and then the owner's friend took us for a tour around the most popular beaches. We didn’t stay anywhere we just enjoyed the short ride on the sea), which was really nice and we really enjoyed it but it was only for this day. The rest of the days we were going everywhere with the car! For those reasons, we decided to ask for a partial refund or something like that but neither the owner nor the platform assisted on that. We initially asked the charter owner if they could give us a partial refund and they said that it's better to talk with nautal platform about that and that they would help us on this issue. Then I sent an email to nautal support who then tried to contact the charter and they were unable for a few days. When they finally managed to get in touch with them, they said they couldn’t refund us and I quote "unfortunately I am not able to provide you a partial refund. The insurance you have, takes effect when you need to cancel the booking because of illness of you or someone of the crew, not because of bad weather." We were a bit disappointed because we paid for a sailing trip and we didn't have that! We only stayed in the marine and although we had a great time we thought that the fairest would have been to get some money back. We thought that by choosing a platform to book the trip, we would have been more secured and that we would have been covered for any issues that came up which was not the case.
Low customer service but improved comparing to starting point
**** Managed to solve the below problem after several days of e-mail exchanges. Still did not get the full refund as promised but at least they admitted their mistake and gave an acceptable discount for my next booking. I have to recognize that it seems they tried to improve their customer service after this bad experience. ---------------------------------------------------- Really bad customer service. booked a trip in April 2021 for August 2021 then after just a few weeks had to cancel due to a family unexpected reason. NAUTAL promised to reimburse me for 80% of the amount when I confirmed cancellation, they confirmed they did not read correctly the deal with the boat's owner and proposed a reimbursement of only of ~40% of the initial amount. Really not professional way to handle your clients!
