Stay away... terrible company not standing behind their product.
Saws are a great idea. The company is not. We purchased 3 of the job side saws for our employees. They started off mis firing randomly... not touching anything other than wood, or nothing at all. We had some interaction that was ok, but ultimately they upgraded the firmware to allow for CO dry climate (static I assume) and all seemed well... apart from that we wasted 6 cartridges and blades. They replaced 5 of the six, and I couldn't be bothered going around about it with them again. Especially as it had taken so much time already. That was roughly March of '24. The past month has been another experience. One guy, one saw, had 3 tripped cartridges in a row. First one he was ripping a sheet of ply and nothing touched but the wood.. for sure!! So, with a little frustration he swapped the cartridge (we keep a couple backups on hand - pun intended) and blade. He then made sure to clean out dust, and carefully discharge any static build up before plugging back in. Then he waited for the usual green light and started the saw. Nothing near the saw at all ... POP, it fired again immediately, this time so soon after the start button was pressed that the tips of the blade (new one) barely even impacted the aluminum stop. OK, very unlucky... on we go and replace the cartridge, but not the blade this time as it was new and barely even impacted the stop. Again, discharged and cleaned etc.... set it up with the new cartridge (SAME FIRMWARE), and started up. POP again... So we got some new cartridges believing that SawStop would make good on this as it seemed to be related to failures of their product, not our mis use. They received the three cartridges and evaluated within what must have been a couple hours after receiving them, based on tracking info. The result? WE TOUCHED THE BLADE - EITHER WITH SKIN OR METAL. LIES. So, we are reverting back to DeWalts again... and will (hopefully) sell these paperweights soon. If your prepared to spend 400-500 dollars replacing cartridges and blades each time there's a firmware failure, go ahead... otherwise don't bother... they won't help.
