Buyer Beware
I recently ordered music and inadvertently purchased a monthly subscription. I had no idea I was getting the monthly subscription until the charge appeared in my PayPal account. I see this as deceptive. Even the cancellation prompt is deceptive. Buyer beware.
Unwanted subscription reversed after complaint
Very unhappy to have been charged an unexpected subscription fee. I wrote to complain, they replied saying the charge would still stand. I replied "Thank you for your response. I am not happy with your explanation. Section 62 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 has a requirement for contract terms and notices to be fair. An unfair term of a consumer contract is not binding on the consumer. Section 68 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 has a requirement for transparency. You cannot rely on Key Terms buried in the small print. Subscription contracts should include a 14-day cooling-off period under The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013: >On first sign up >When a free trial converts into a paid subscription >When a subscription renews into a new contract Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you must provide clear information about cancellation rights before a contract is formed. If you fail to do so, the consumer’s cancellation period does not expire after 14 days. Instead, it is extended by up to 12 months. Does your process adhere to all these requirements? If so, please demonstrate how. If you don't provide satisfactory responses to these points within 7 days, I will refer the matter to my credit card provider." I've now received a refund.
Shady practices
I ordered one piece of sheet music and I got signed up for sheet music plus, $9.99 a month without my knowledge. 2 stars only because the sheet music I bought was fine.
