Squibler: The AI Writing Tool That's Actually Making Money
How a 496-person team is turning AI into a $150M novel-writing empire
While most AI writing tools chase viral hype, Squibler quietly built a $150.7M revenue machine with 496 employees—making it one of the most commercially successful AI writing platforms that nobody's talking about. Their secret? Focusing on serious novelists instead of casual bloggers.
"Squibler isn't building a writing app—they're building a novel-writing factory, and it's working."
The Professional Writer's Choice
Unlike competitors fighting for hobbyists, Squibler targets published authors and aspiring novelists. Their operations manager is a published author, and their team includes professional writers like Payal Kapadia. This isn't a tool for writing tweets—it's for drafting full manuscripts. The 52% organic traffic suggests strong word-of-mouth in writing communities, not just paid ads chasing casual users.
The SEO Moat They Built
Squibler dominates high-intent keywords like 'AI story generator' (50,090 monthly searches) and 'AI story writer' (8,570 searches). They rank for 'the most dangerous writing app' (4,410 searches)—a clever hijack of competitor positioning. With 39,924 backlinks, they've built serious domain authority in the AI writing space, turning SEO into a defensible growth engine.
The tech stack reveals a pragmatic approach: jQuery and Bootstrap for speed, Tailwind for modern UI, and Magento for e-commerce. They're not chasing bleeding-edge frameworks—they're building reliable infrastructure for scale. The 1.8/5 Trustpilot rating (33 reviews) suggests they're prioritizing revenue over reviews, a controversial but effective strategy for a B2C SaaS at this scale.
- Revenue-first mentality: $150M on 588K monthly visits = ~$255 revenue per visitor
- Professional writer focus: Team includes published authors, not just engineers
- SEO dominance: Owns high-intent AI writing keywords with 39K+ backlinks
- Pragmatic tech: Built for scale, not for tech Twitter
- Global reach: Top 81K rank with traffic from multiple undefined countries
Squibler is the adult in the AI writing room
While others chase hype, they're building a real business around serious writers. $150M revenue and growing—this is how you win in AI tools.

I've used Squibler for over a year and it's user friendly, responses to any issue is always prompt and professional. They continual improve the program and are ready to assist.
Do not use it to create a manuscript
Do not use it to create a manuscript. Use it to help you with the manuscript you write. It can help make prose a bit more flowery and help you organize your stuff. Use of the elements is helpful, though it will often describe the character with the same verbiage every time. So, use it, but realize you cannot use it to write a story and get a great product. Only use it to help edit, then edit what the Squibler writes. It is not a cheat code. My issues with the program... it's more the functional stuff. Perhaps that is more due to my years of use of Word. The pics of things they create always seem to have horns, even when I tell it they do not have horns. Like, is there a demon helping it write? Overall... price is decent, but there is probably better programs out there if you just want to cheat.
Good interface, but not intuitive; lack of references function
I signed up after searching for "how to get assistance writing a manuscript" and Squibler came up. I went to their website, I filled out the "enter your ideas here" form and it spit out a manuscript BUT without references! I signed up to be a member and they told me there were a great number of upgrades and concerns with their interface and some of them were: 1. Lack of referencing functionality, especially lack of foot notes to enter for references. 2. Their interface is cumbersome, not very intuitive and lots of errors with copying and pasting information and formatting errors. I tried a competitor and they were much better at least in the output of references for documents, but the competitor I tried had a basic "command line" Interface and not intricately figured with frames like Squibler is. 1. Their service, at least for me concerning lack of reliable referencing function AND their outputs do not include references for fact checking, is also a MAJOR impediment for non-fiction academic writers I don't think I will keep a subscription past 1 month UNLESS they fix the above errors and make it especially suitable for non-fiction writers. If they fix the concerns I MAY subscribe again because overall its a good deal.

I'm writing this review to highlight a significant and persistent issue I've encountered with the AI story generation feature. While the concept of the tool is promising, its current functionality is severely hampered by excessive repetition of paragraphs and sentences. In every story I've created, I've found that entire paragraphs and specific sentences are duplicated verbatim across multiple chapters, sometimes appearing several times within the same story. This isn't a minor glitch; it's a fundamental flaw that makes the generated narratives feel disjointed, unpolished, and ultimately, unreadable. There seems to be no logical reason for this repetition, and it consistently detracts from the quality of the output. This issue makes the AI-generated stories unusable without extensive manual editing, which defeats the purpose of using an AI tool for efficiency. I hope the development team can prioritize a fix for this critical bug, as it significantly impacts the user experience and the overall value of the service.
This is an appalling product
This is an appalling product, followed up with even worse customer service. The treatment is in an exceptionally contemptuous way. Keep on closing my ticket, did not want to discuss an "Ex Gratia" refund after taking the time to highlight all the technical deficiencies their product has, and there are several not worth a penny. I will be seeking my money back
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. I understand how frustrating it can be to feel disappointed with a billing outcome, and I appreciate you reaching out. That said, I want to be transparent and consistent in our response. Our subscription terms, which are agreed to at sign-up, state that we’re unable to issue refunds more than seven daysafter a subscription has started. Because your request falls three months out of the timeframe, we’re not able to offer a refund. We’re unable to make exceptions to this policy or negotiate billing terms, as doing so would be unfair to other customers who are held to the same agreement. While we respect your right to share feedback, we hope you’ll understand that our decision is based solely on the terms in place and not a lack of willingness to help. If there’s anything we can assist with—such as account guidance, cancellation support, or ensuring you get the most value moving forward—please let us know. We’re always happy to help in any way that aligns with our policies.
