The Ghost in the Solar Machine
A $18.8M company with zero traffic and an expired website
Imagine a company with 72 employees and nearly $19M in annual revenue that effectively doesn't exist online. That's sunternalsolar.com—a digital ghost ship sailing through the construction industry with an expired Squarespace domain as its only visible flag.
"In 2024, a company with $18.8M in revenue and zero web traffic isn't just invisible—it's a deliberate strategic choice or a catastrophic oversight."
The Infrastructure Paradox
Sunternal Solar operates in the construction industry with a team of 72 people and nearly $19M in revenue. This isn't a startup—it's an established player. Yet their digital footprint is a blank slate with a Squarespace page that simply reads 'Website Expired.' This creates a fascinating paradox: substantial physical operations with zero digital presence.
The Revenue Mystery
Where does $18.8M in revenue come from with zero organic search traffic? The answer likely lies in traditional B2B channels—referrals, trade shows, and direct sales relationships. Eric Spiegel, Sales Director, probably spends more time at construction sites than at keyboards. This is old-school business development in a digital-first world.
The tech stack tells its own story: Tailwind CSS and HSTS security headers suggest someone once cared about web development, but the Squarespace expiration reveals a company that treats its website as a checkbox, not a growth engine. Meanwhile, their 2.6-star Trustpilot rating from 4 reviews suggests customer experience issues that might be hidden behind closed doors rather than addressed publicly.
- Revenue generation completely decoupled from digital presence
- Traditional B2B sales model (likely relationship-driven)
- Minimal online reputation management (4 reviews total)
- Tech infrastructure that suggests past web investment now abandoned
The Ultimate Anti-Digital Playbook
Sunternal Solar proves that in some B2B sectors, relationships still trump algorithms—but their approach is increasingly rare and risky in a digital-first economy.

We needed a new roof after they were done with our installation, sunternal was great at selling, but nexus energy is the installer, of which sunternal is at the sales arm, nothing else. Overall, stay away from them, find an installer that uses real roofers to get onto your roof.
Avoid Sunternal
Our experience with Sunternal Solar has been a nightmare. 1. Mechanics Lien: They didn’t pay their contractor, leaving us with a lien on our home. Despite our repeated attempts to get them to fix this, there's been no response or update on when it will be resolved. 2. Roof Leak: The solar panel installation caused a leak in our roof. Essential flashing was skipped, and even after countless follow-ups, they’ve done nothing to address it. 3. Terrible System Performance: We’re stuck paying for both solar and PG&E because the system doesn’t produce enough energy. We’re locked into a useless power purchase program with no resolution in sight. Sunternal’s lack of responsibility and action has been infuriating and costly. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
What ever you do go with someone else
What ever you do go with someone else. Had these guys install a system paid them in full. Instead of paying the distributor for my solar panel they used the money else where. I had a lien put on my house because they did not pay their distributor. We are now dealing with the board of construction and then will get all The lawyer fees through court. Unreal unprofessional. Here is the irony I had 5 neighbors that were going to go with them. After I told them my experience they all decided to go with other company’s. No need for this be professional.
Do not choose Sunternal if you are…
Do not choose Sunternal if you are looking for solar. They work together with Nexus. Sunternal only does the sales side. Both companies do not live up to their promises. I took my first review from February down because Chris Zettel, COO from Nexus, promised to take care of everything. Andrew Little, COO from Sunternal, is aware and does not care. Now it is July and it is even worse. They ruined our roof and are unable to fix it. Eight(!!!) attempts in four months. And that is not the only issue. Do not trust these positive reviews. We did and we deeply regret it. Poor workmanship, unreliable and chaotic. UPDATE: It took them 14 attempts to replace ALL broken tiles. UPDATE II: Our ordeal with Sunternal/Nexus is still ongoing. We are entering YEAR THREE now. Our roof startet leaking last winter and we have water damage in ceiling and walls. Sunternal/Nexus does not reply for multiple weeks and when they do it is to tell us that we have to wait until they can schedule us. We are waiting for four months for them to fix it. Again: DO NOT choose Sunternal.
