Unfair treatment of tourists on Paris France trains Transilien
We were on holiday just outside of Paris in April 2026 with three young children. We were staying in Faremoutiers and as there was no staffed ticket office we bought tickets for day travel from the machine adjacent to the platform. We then got on the train and got off in Paris. At the station in Paris the ticket inspector said as we had not validated our tickets at the platform we did not have valid tickets and he fined us 150 euros. He said if we paid the fine we could claim it back online and as it was our first fine we would get the money back. However, when we tried to claim the money back from transilien.com they refused to give us our money back. We only have limited knowledge of the French language and also do not think the ticket machines at the station or signs on the platform made it clear that even though we had purchased a ticket we still needed to validate it. We think it is very unfair that Transilien did not reimburse us. It has put us off travelling in France on public transport. From the reviews on this website it would appear this is a common problem.
Disgusting way to treat a tourist….
Arrived in Paris from the UK on 15/06/2026. On the 16/06/2026 I purchased a weekly Metro ticket from Glaciere, instructions to swipe on and off as required..worked great, until yesterday when travelling to Versailles when handing my ticket to the inspector, only to be issued a €50 fine for only having the ticket not the card with the cut out hole in it.. I was not evading a fare and yet I was unaware that both parts of the ticket needed to be carried.. This was not explained at time of purchase.. Disappointed that as a tourist to be treated in such a way.. Disputed my fine…….to no avail abysmal treatment
We were stopped during a ticket…
We were stopped during a ticket inspection while transferring from line E to B, even though we had a VALID ticket, only of the wrong type. The metro EMPLOYEE GAVE US the contacts of "Transilien SNCF" and confirmed that this was the "FIRST MISTAKE " for which the money should be refunded and also because of these following reasons: * We had a VALID ticket, this mistake was not ours, but the system’s and the employee’s. * During the inspection, the employee clearly confirmed that this was the “FIRST MISTAKE”, for which the fare must be refunded. * The system is unclear and misleading, especially for students, who receive NO DISCOUNTS , while the “low fare” applies only to children and train ticket prices in Paris are too high for students, while kids’ tickets are bought BY PARENTS anyway, making the push for ECO- FRIENDLY travel less meaningful. * During the inspection, the EMPLOYEE GAVE US to contact via WhatsApp, but when we did, Transilien representatives (Jorah, Lea, Rhea, Sacha) behaved unprofessionally and rudely, conversations were cut off, and the fare was not refunded. These actions violate: * Code de la consommation, L111-1 – obliging the provision of clear and understandable information to the consumer; * Code des transports, L2231-1 et seq. – which establishes the right to a refund in the event of a transport company error. We sure there is even more Codes but these are perfect examples.
A criminal organization as the mafia
A criminal organization using Mafia methods. Sadly I can't describe the situations in detail because it were to much. I live for 1 month in Paris and the Number of negativ experiences I have made with the transition personal is beyond 10. Unpolite, disrespectful, randomly charging money nonetheless I had a valid ticket, bullying people...
