I do not recommend Checkr as an employer. They will charge you any additional checks you add, EVEN if these are not completed. It was not a helpful and I recommend you save yourself the headache.
Inhuman AI slop
Terrible, terrible AI slop experience from start to finish. 1. Time wasters: during onboarding, it took me 3+ hours to go through the process multiple times because if you go back to check you didn't forget anything, you get sections with missing information that you already submitted, randomly. Went back to see if you completed your employment history correctly? Woosh, its gone, do it again! Wondering if your education history is still there? It might be, but if you try to go back to check it, it might vanish! 2. There's no "review" stage before submitting your info, so you're anxious if YOU forgot something, and you're doubly anxious if THEIR incompetent systems just didn't save a whole section. 3. They contacted me 3 times for one employer and 2 for another to provide them details I had already provided. In an automated form, in a textbox that fits 20 characters in a single line, while asking for my employer's full name and address. 4. When I emailed expressing my anxiousness since they're asking the SAME stuff every single time, they said that I should provide info X which is what I was already providing them. All systems are automated and there's no way to clear up any of their incompetent steps or prompts. 5. If you try to contact them to clear up anything, you can't find a phone number, you can't find an email, but what you do get is a terrible AI chat which has nothing useful to offer. You have to insist to talk to a human, but it won't budge unless you converse with it for a while. You then don't get to chat with a human, but it opens a ticket via email which is "answered" by the same terrible AI sloppy agent, and you have to continue prompting it multiple times via email for a human before someone answers, with a generic, unhelpful answer. 6. They're extremely slow with almost every single step. They failed to contact both my employers, even though they're both a single call or email away - and I confirmed with both employers twice throughout the process that they are responsive and willing via the phones/addresses I provided Checkr with. 7. It took them a month to finish the checks. A whole month to check two universities, two employers and my criminal record. And fail both the employers with red. Even my universities came back yellow instead of green because I completed "MSc of xxx" instead of just "Master of Science" in the "Degree" field. This whole process left me feeling helpless and stressed about my new work, for a month. My employer allowed me to start working before the checks finished, and I was left exposed by Checkr but fortunately my employer was willing to perform the employment checks themselves.
Terrible service & customer service
after 2 weeks and multiple follow ups on my side, they still have not sent out the request for background check that I submitted
They asked for my SSN versus my drivers…
They asked for my SSN versus my drivers license number for assistant coach of my grandson’s team. I’m certainly not comfortable putting that out there on the web on a message which was AI driven on their initial email and follow up responses. All I can say is looking over other reviews I certainly made the right decision not providing this confidential information.

So Checkr is asking for a w2 or 1099 for a former employer but they have no customer service or anyone to even talk to!!! This is absoute bs that even though my background is clear and I have no tickets ornfelonies but they have paused the process because I need to verify a former job!!!
