This was all around a terrible company
This was all around a terrible company. I was supposed to have a simple background check and instead they took days to work on my previous employment just to get nowhere and for me to have to tell them repeatedly that I did not have some of the impossible to get documents that they were asking for and I had to have my previous employers manually call them. If I did not have a good relationship with my previous employers I imagine that I would have been completely unable to get through the background check. None of the workers or customer service speak English well at all which makes it even more confusing. If you are a company reading this, please do not ever use HireRight.
Deserve zero stars
Deserve zero stars, a truly awful company: 1. Harass you with no-reply emails and impossible to talk to anyone 2. Misrepresent you to your future employer - claimed I was not cooperating when I had been in multiple interaction daily. This is disgraceful. 3. They are focused on performing the least effort - they push you to find information from previous employers rather than contacting them directly. 4. They pressure you to provide documents that you should not legally share (such as previous employment contracts). A truly disgusting company.
The "Process Failure" Approach
The user experience shifts the entire burden of data entry onto the candidate, essentially forcing me to perform the work that the vendor is hired to do. The system failed to parse my resume effectively, requiring manual entry of ten years of history that was already provided. Furthermore, the rigidity regarding specific start/end dates for employment and education from over a decade ago creates unnecessary 'discrepancies' and anxiety. A background check service should reduce administrative friction, not increase it. This platform is archaic, redundant, and user-hostile.
Slow and sloppy
I had a background check done by HireRight in 2024, the results were fast and they did their job of finding my previous company's contacts. I'm going through a background check again and the experience is absolutely horrible. First of all, I submitted the initial data 10 days ago and the background check is still ongoing. Their software product is flawed: I cannot edit certain data and email notifications for updates work 1 out of 3 times. They keep asking for 1-2 extra documents at a time repeatedly and they ask for redundant information. I have submitted employment contracts, extracts of my social contributions and provided contact information of my last employer and that's still not enough to confirm my previous employment. They also ask for the exact document you have already sent before which is infuriating.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. 48 hours to get any answers. Placed on long holds. Not willing to help in any capacity. DO NOT USE!
