The Unlikely Growth of Common
A $40M revenue company with traffic that defies logic
In a world obsessed with viral traffic, Common.com operates on a different playbook entirely. With just 800 monthly visits, this $40.8M revenue company proves that B2B scale doesn't always follow the digital growth curve.
"Traffic vanity metrics are dead. Revenue is the only metric that matters."
The Offline Empire
Common isn't a digital-first company—it's a physical services empire that happens to have a website. With 271 employees and $113M in funding, they've built a business model where digital presence is secondary to operational excellence. Their 801 monthly visits aren't a failure; they're a symptom of a company that closes deals through relationships, not SEO.
The Trustpilot Paradox
A 3.1/5 rating with 542 reviews tells a story of operational friction. For a company in business and consumer services, this rating suggests they're either in a brutally competitive market or their service delivery has gaps. The volume of reviews (542) indicates they're serving real customers, but the sub-3.5 rating reveals the operational challenges of scaling a services business.
The tech stack reveals a pragmatic approach: WordPress with Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, and jQuery. This isn't a cutting-edge SaaS platform—it's a functional website built for speed and maintenance. The presence of Google Analytics and Tag Manager shows they're tracking what matters, but the absence of sophisticated SEO tools confirms their traffic strategy isn't digital-first.
- Revenue-per-employee: ~$150K (strong for services)
- Funding-to-revenue ratio: 2.8x (healthy capital efficiency)
- Trustpilot volume: 542 reviews (substantial customer base)
- Tech stack: Pragmatic WordPress setup (not over-engineered)
The Anti-Startup Playbook
Common proves that B2B services scale through operations, not traffic. Their 801 monthly visits aren't a bug—they're a feature of a business built on relationships, not algorithms.

Just need some patience.
Good support, just need some patience. They will get back to you and resolve your query to the fullest depending on whichever channels they need to go through. I had a problem with gym access and they resolved it for me promptly within 3 days

Mixed Experience at Common Co-Living Property
I recently moved into a property managed by Common Co-Living, and while the overall experience has been decent, there are some significant points that prevent me from giving it a five-star review. The property itself is situated on a quiet and pleasant street, contributing to its appeal. Tevin, the leasing agent, was helpful during the viewing process and showcased professionalism. However, my initial positive impressions were marred by unfulfilled promises. Tevin assured me that the room would be freshly painted, the broken light fixed, and a new shower curtain installed before my move-in date. Unfortunately, on the day I arrived, none of these commitments were met. The property, accommodating up to six residents, shows signs of wear and tear, which is expected in a shared living environment. Nevertheless, my specific room left much to be desired. Burnt marks on the blinds, dirty walls, peeling paint in the bathroom, and holes in various places presented a disappointing picture. Despite immediate notification upon my arrival, I was informed that painting the room was not possible since I had already moved in. As someone with over 20 years in the real estate business, I find this approach cheap and lazy. From all the co-living places I looked at I would say Common has one of the better programs as there are not additional fees. All the other quote one price and then add on extra fees. Make sure you get everything in writing regardless what the leasing agent states. Their leases can be confusing, depending on the property, but overall, they appear legitimate. One positive aspect is that my co-living space, designed for six occupants, currently houses only four, providing a more comfortable living arrangement. However, Common's policy of not introducing roommates before move-in creates an uncertainty that may not appeal to everyone. Personally, I have not encountered any issues with my unseen roommates so far. In conclusion, addressing the neglected maintenance issues, such as patching holes, replacing burnt blinds, and applying a fresh coat of paint, would significantly enhance the property's appeal. Common has the potential to earn a five-star rating by putting forth the necessary efforts to meet their promises, and in turn, I would confidently refer others to their properties.
