FaceGym: The $42M Face Fitness Revolution
How a hybrid beauty-tech brand is monetizing the 'workout' for your face
While the beauty industry obsesses over serums and injections, FaceGym has quietly built a $42.8M empire by treating faces like muscles that need a gym membership. They aren't selling skincare; they're selling 'facial fitness' through a hybrid model of tech tools, active workouts, and results-driven products.
"FaceGym isn't selling anti-aging; they're selling anti-sedentary. They've successfully rebranded facial care from a passive ritual to an active workout."
The Hybrid Model: Digital Meets Physical
FaceGym's genius lies in its omnichannel approach. While their digital footprint drives 87.5K monthly visits, their physical studios (like the Silverlake and Santa Monica locations hinted at in their keyword data) anchor the brand in experiential luxury. This creates a flywheel: online tools and 'workouts' lower the barrier to entry, while premium studio experiences command high-ticket prices and build brand loyalty. The 45% direct traffic share indicates a highly loyal, returning customer base that doesn't just stumble upon them—they seek them out.
The Trust Paradox
Here is the most telling data point: a 2.3/5 star rating on Trustpilot with 124 reviews. For a company with $42.8M in revenue, this is a glaring red flag. It suggests a massive disconnect between the promise of 'results-driven skincare' and actual customer satisfaction. Either their product efficacy is inconsistent, or their customer service cannot handle the scale of their growth. For investors, this is a critical area of friction; for founders, it's a cautionary tale about scaling operations faster than quality control.
The technology stack reveals a brand focused on performance and user experience. They utilize Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, and Swiper for a responsive, mobile-first interface—a necessity for their demographic. However, the lack of backlink data and the reliance on branded keywords ('FaceGym', 'Face Gym Silverlake') suggests their SEO strategy is defensive rather than offensive. They rank for their name, but they aren't dominating the broader 'facial fitness' or 'at-home beauty tools' conversations organically. Their growth is likely driven by paid social and brand awareness rather than search intent capture.
- Revenue Scale: $42.8M puts them in the top tier of DTC beauty brands.
- Brand Loyalty: 45% direct traffic proves high customer retention.
- Operational Risk: 2.3/5 Trustpilot rating indicates severe CX friction.
- Market Position: They own the 'facial workout' niche, but SEO is weak.
The Verdict: A Unicorn with a Chipped Foundation
FaceGym has built a massive revenue engine, but the low trust score suggests the foundation is cracking under the weight of rapid scaling.

Outstanding Support from Kate
I wanted to leave a note of appreciation for the incredible support I received from Kate. From the moment I reached out, she was warm, patient and genuinely willing to help. She took the time to understand my situation and went above and beyond to find a solution, even though what I was asking fell outside of the usual policy. Her empathy, professionalism and kindness made such a difference, especially during a stressful time for me. It’s rare to come across customer service that feels this human and thoughtful. Kate made me feel heard and supported throughout the entire process. I’m truly grateful for her help. She’s an asset to the team, and my experience with her has made me even more confident in choosing FaceGym.
So impressed by the customer care at FaceGym!
I accidentally booked the wrong treatment, at the wrong time and even the wrong studio — and on top of that, I was running late! But Kate from the Customer Experience Team was absolutely amazing. She sorted everything out with so much kindness, patience and understanding. People often say that London service can be cold or careless — but this experience was the complete opposite. FaceGym truly puts their clients first. I’m so grateful and beyond impressed!

want to give special thanks to Claudia at the FaceGym branch in St John’s Wood. She was absolutely wonderful- professional, kind, and incredibly skilled. From her attitude to the way she performed my workout, everything was perfect, and I truly appreciate her care and expertise. Although I’ve had a very disappointing experience at FaceGym Selfridges and found their customer service over email quite frustrating, I must say that my sessions at the St John’s Wood and Canary Wharf branches have been the best by far.

Consultation form needs an overhaul
Have been a longtime member and the staff in-store are amazing, but the changes management made by getting rid of the front of house and making everything automated has been terrible. You now can’t get ahold of someone if you need to change your appointment or are running late. The longer term issue of the consultation form being out of date is even worse now. It still has information about Covid on it and more importantly doesn’t tell you if you cant have the treatment based on the information you enter, even if you fill it in long before your appointment. I went in today only to be told I couldn’t have the treatment i’d booked because of other treatments I’d had to my face since my last appointment. The team were great about rescheduling it but regulars and new clients alike should be told whether or not they’re able to have the treatment when they fill out the form rather than when they show up to the appointment! It’s a waste of clients time and money and it isn’t fair that the team in-store have to deal with the fallout of unhappy customers when it’s not their fault. If you’re truly trying to offer an automated customer service product- you need to do the whole process better!
