Kaiyo: The Furniture Giant in a Casino Disguise
A $13M company with a severe identity crisis and a 1.6-star rating
Kaiyo.com presents one of the most baffling corporate identities in the tech landscape. A company with $13.3M in revenue and 92 employees is operating a casino affiliate site while the internet believes they sell furniture.
"When your top keyword is 'kaiyo furniture' but your homepage screams 'non-GamStop casinos,' you're either pivoting or failing spectacularly."
The Identity Crisis
Kaiyo's traffic tells a story of confusion. 82% of visitors come from undefined sources, suggesting bot traffic or tracking failures. The remaining traffic is split between direct (47%) and organic search (37%), with users searching for furniture but landing on casino content. This mismatch creates a fundamental trust issue that no amount of casino affiliate revenue can fix.
The Casino Pivot
The company has pivoted from furniture to gambling affiliate marketing. Their homepage targets UK players seeking casinos not on GamStop, yet their brand equity and employee expertise remain rooted in furniture. This creates a dangerous disconnect where brand recognition doesn't match business operations, leading to the 1.6-star rating from frustrated customers expecting furniture but finding gambling sites.
The technical stack reveals a bootstrap operation. Built on WordPress with Tailwind CSS and Bootstrap, it's a low-cost setup that prioritizes speed over sophistication. Cloudflare protects the infrastructure, but the underlying business model appears to be a high-risk affiliate play rather than a sustainable SaaS or marketplace business.
- Revenue doesn't match traffic: 16K monthly visits generating $13.3M suggests either high-value affiliate deals or data discrepancies
- Employee expertise mismatch: Key people include software engineers and designers, yet the site is a basic WordPress installation
- Brand dilution: Furniture brand equity being destroyed by casino content with no clear transition strategy
A Cautionary Tale of Pivoting
Kaiyo demonstrates how not to transition a business - when you abandon your brand without properly killing the old identity, you create a zombie company that confuses everyone.

Mixed Experiences
Purchased an Ethan Allen nightstand that matched my existing bedroom set a year ago that was in pristine condition, well-packaged, and reasonably priced ($267). That transaction gave me confidence to try Kaiyo again. Purchased a Restoration Hardware leather office chair recently that they listed with low resolution b&w pictures that did not reveal its true condition. A mobile phone could have taken better shots. They also had four separate listings with the same pictures, but different prices. Customer service refused to email separate pictures corresponding to the specific item numbers saying the chairs were inaccessible at their warehouse. I chose one in the midrange of the four chairs described as in good condition. Fortunately, I picked the chair up myself from their local warehouse and rejected it immediately upon seeing how dirty and well-worn it was. The retail price was inflated on their website from what's listed in RH's catalog. They should be ashamed for asking over $800 for something so raggedy. I have seen a display model just like it for less at RH's outlet. Kaiyo acted in bad faith and forces buyers to bear the full risk by charging nonnegotiable restocking fees for their dishonesty. Never taking that chance again. Better to buy risk-free from a local seller or consignment shop.
Suddenly OUT OF BUSINESS in the middle…
Suddenly OUT OF BUSINESS in the middle of my pending sale and they did not give me any of MY money for a 3-piece sectional they picked up and had active on their website at the point they decided to "change hands." This is akin to STEALING, to take someone's furniture with the promise of paying them money owed to them. So, they basically got my couch AND will get any future proceeds. I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB. Disgusting customer "service."
Unethical company
Unethical company. Attempted to sell expensive couch with them. They picked up and damaged during cleaning. Denied doing any damage despite pictures. Sold for pennies on the dollar. Haven’t received a dime from them. Refused to work with the BBB and FTC when I filed complaints. Only recourse is to file complaint with state attorney general.
I sold two items on Kaiyo in June
I sold two items on Kaiyo in June, and have not received payment for either item. The provided no ETA for my funds. They only said they're working on it. Do not sell here. Do not buy from them! What they offer is too good to be true.
this company used to be good but no more
this company used to be good. it has now decided to close and took my furniture, sold it, and never paid me out. horrible!! run!
