Sandos: The $58M All-Inclusive Machine
How a 208-employee resort chain dominates digital bookings in Mexico and Spain
While most hotel chains fight for visibility in the crowded travel market, Sandos Hotels & Resorts has quietly built a $58M revenue engine with just 208 employees—proving that focused execution in the all-inclusive niche beats broad market flailing.
"They don't compete with Marriott or Hilton—they own the all-inclusive experience in Mexico and Spain."
The Retention Playbook
Sandos doesn't chase new customers—they convert repeat visitors. With 31% direct traffic (vs 59% organic), their brand loyalty is evident. Guests return year after year not for flashy marketing, but for their 'excellent beach'—a simple promise delivered consistently. This isn't accidental; it's a deliberate strategy to own the vacation memory, not just the booking.
The SEO Fortress
Their keyword strategy reveals surgical precision. 'Sandos Playacar' (6,380 monthly searches) and 'Sandos Caracol Eco Resort' (4,600 searches) dominate branded search. They're not bidding on 'Mexico vacation'—they're capturing intent for their specific properties. This 59% organic traffic share suggests they've built a content moat around their resort names, making them the default result when travelers search for their properties.
The Trustpilot score of 2.6/5 from 28 reviews is the elephant in the room. It's not catastrophic for a niche player, but it signals friction in the customer experience. For a company whose entire value proposition is 'excellent beach' and repeat visits, this rating suggests operational gaps between marketing promise and delivery. The opportunity? Fix this, and the 159K monthly visitors become a flywheel of positive reviews and referrals.
- Tech stack is modern but pragmatic (Tailwind, Vite, jQuery) – they prioritize speed over bleeding-edge innovation
- Social presence across TikTok to LinkedIn shows they're targeting multi-generational travelers
- The 'members.sandos4u.com' portal hints at a loyalty program that could be their secret retention weapon
The Unsexy Empire
Sandos proves you don't need unicorn status to build a profitable, defensible travel business—just relentless focus on one niche and perfect execution on repeat visits.

Fantastic hotel, would highly recommend
We stayed at the Sandos Monaco, Benidorm, for a week at the beginning of March 2025. It was absolutely fantastic and I’ve recommended to everyone I’ve spoken to. We upgraded to all-inclusive and the food was plentiful and extremely variable. I never struggled to find anything to eat. The Indian meal at their sister hotel was a lovely surprise too. There was too much to eat if anything! The cocktails were great, Spanish measures of course! The entertainment was a bit hit and miss. The bad nights were funny because they were so awful but they had an excellent singer on the Saturday night which was lovely. The mattresses were extremely comfortable which you don’t often get at hotels although the pillows were too soft so that spoiled the bed a bit. The spa was lovely and we both had a great massage. It was a shame that access to the spa wasn’t free (or at least one complimentary entry) as it’s €19 per person just to use the pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room. We paid more for the massage, again, it was lovely. Overall, it was a great hotel which I would highly recommend.
We stayed at the Sandos Atlantic…
We stayed at the Sandos Atlantic Gardens in Playa Blanca for 3 weeks and had a great time. Individual bungalows for the guests, rooms cleaned 7 days a week, towels changed daily, bedding changed twice a week, happy smiling staff and so helpful. The food on offer was plentiful, varied and offered a huge choice for meat eaters and non meat eaters alike. Being a buffet style meant you could keep going back for more..if that is what you wanted. Hot and cold drinks available from 7am till very very late. We will definately be going back again. If I am allowed one small gripe ( and a 5* review should be 4.9 ) the water pressure in the sink and shower is not great. The shower I could live with but the water coming out of the sink faucet is really poor. Some of the bungalows are looking a little tired but in no way will that diminish the holiday. It won't stop us booking again..actually..I already have. For a 3 or 4 star resort it is excellent.
Unique Eco Resort Perfect for Kids
I read lots of reviews and was a bit nervous about some things I read. But I had no reason to worry. It was such a fantastic experience. My kids cried when I took them home. They never wanted to leave. The staff was so accommodating and nice. My youngest slipped at the airport and skinned his knee. When we go to resort the concierge saw him limping and the rip. He brought us over to a desk and checked us in there while another person got my son a bandaid and fancy "Minion " drinks. (Non alcoholic frozen blue and yellow). That was it. They were in love and I was impressed with the care and attention. They brought us and our luggage to our room. We had the Eco Family room which is HUGE and the kids had bunk beds in a separate room with a TV. 2 bathrooms and we were in the jungle surrounded by so many animals. The food was great. We tried all the a la cartes but they preferred the buffets. SO much to choose from and lots of kid friendly choices. My daughter has a food allergy and everything was labeled and easy to decipher. We had no issues. They had plenty to eat with no complaints. The water park was a must do. There are height requirements for different sections but that is normal. The kids club was phenomenal. They would play for 2 hours and we could go do hydrotherapy at the spa, go to beach, get a massage, take out kayaks or even do some activities. Then we'd spend the rest of the day together with a siesta in the afternoon. It was great to go relax for an hour, take a nap, then shower and do dinner. The shows were excellent and for all ages. We liked having Nido snack bar open 24/7. The tacos are impressive. And we could get a drink to have as a night cap. We even got a couple burritos, brought to our room, put in zip loks we brought and ate the next day on the beach. The pool always had fun activities for the whole family from dance lessons to volleyball and trivia The whole vibe was just so positive. The people are so happy and helpful. We will definitely return to this resort.
Unique resorts that get an A+ from my 10 visits.
I have been going to Sandos Caracol and Sandos Playacar for 10 years now. They are unique, family oriented resorts with an adults only area. The customer service is top notch. I really don't get the complaints but I am sure it being Mexico plays a part. Many tourists expect English to be spoken, American food served and for customer service to bow and scrape to every Karen who didn't get 2 wash cloths. The way these tourists act is shameful. If you want an affordable resort with good, plentiful food, lots to do tons of animals, and friendly workers then these resorts are for you If you want Western culture, tex-mex, and 5 star amenities at a 3 star price then stay home.
El Greco, the Perfect Place in Portinax
To give you some insight, I’ve been to the el Greco before I was even born, my mother was 10 weeks pregnant, then I’ve been to visit this hotel back when it was a family resort up until 2012. Now at the age of 27 I have come back with family to visit our favourite place, the entertainment team are phenomenal people, Danny and Ana are an absolute gem here, they involve everyone and their energy is contagious! The variety of activities is great, you can be doing yoga on the beach at 11am, then doing some shuffleboard and hour later, they normally have activities between 10am - 1pm, so you have some downtime in the day to do things without missing out. I met some great people through the entertainment team and for that I am incredibly grateful. Thank you Danny and Ana, much love 🫶🏻. the restaurant staff and warm and inviting, seeing some staff still there since when I was a kid such as Nano and Mario really show how committed and welcoming this hotel is. The food alternates with different themed dishes daily, allergies, talk to the restaurant manager and they’ll sort you out. There is also a restaurant in the resort where you can sit down and have a 4 course meal, this food is fantastic and the service was amazing (thanks Nano). The beach is a staircase away with beautiful clean sea water you can swim in with many restaurants and bars only a short walk away. The night entertainment is different each night with a variety of shows from comedy game nights, to cabaret and dance. The entertainment finishes around 11pm with the bar being open and additional hour before closing time. The pool is tested and cleaned every morning at around 8am, which is a great time to utilise their gym. There is no massive rush to secure beds, simply go down around 8am and you’ll find a spot no problem with plenty of umbrellas available to use in every corner of the area. They do have an “Royal Elite” package which gives you access to exclusive areas, I personally did not have this package, nor do really see the value for it, but if you want better rooms and a calmer atmosphere, splash out! The age range for this resort is essentially everyone, you can be playing the activities, doing yoga, or aqua aerobics with people of all ages, it’s all inclusive with everybody included! We’re all here to enjoy ourselves, so have a laugh and get stuck in. Overall if you want to go somewhere in Ibiza that is calm, affordable and friendly, this is the hotel for you. I’ve been coming here many many times, and I’ll keep on coming back. See you soon guys, James
