StackPath: The Ghost in the Machine
A $400M bet on edge computing that's struggling to find its audience.
StackPath sits on a $396M war chest to conquer the edge computing market, yet their website barely registers a blip on the global radar. This isn't a startup struggling for funding; it's an enterprise with a visibility problem.
"StackPath has the capital of a unicorn but the digital footprint of a niche utility. They've built the infrastructure, but the traffic isn't following."
The Traffic Paradox
With only 6,971 monthly visits and a global rank of #3,145,024, StackPath is virtually invisible to organic search. Their traffic is 41% organic and 43% direct, suggesting a reliance on existing customers rather than new acquisition. For a company with $65.6M in revenue, this is a dangerously low funnel velocity.
The Brand Identity Crisis
The keyword data reveals a fragmented brand. 'Stackpath' (1,450 volume) leads the pack, but 'stack path' (50 volume) and 'cdn stackpath' (100 volume) show users aren't sure what to call them. This ambiguity likely contributes to the 1.4/5 Trustpilot rating—customers who can't find you easily often leave frustrated reviews when they do.
The leadership team, led by CEO Kip Turco, has assembled a solid roster with Kevin Odden (CRO) and Tim Logan (AVP Media). However, the tech stack is surprisingly sparse—only HSTS detected. This suggests either a heavy reliance on proprietary infrastructure or a lack of public-facing tech markers, which hurts SEO and developer adoption.
- Massive funding ($396M) vs. modest revenue ($65.6M) indicates aggressive R&D or acquisition spending
- Low traffic (6,971 visits) contradicts enterprise-level revenue—likely direct sales driven
- Trustpilot rating (1.4/5) signals customer experience issues in a crowded CDN market
The Edge Computing Paradox
StackPath has the infrastructure and funding to compete with Cloudflare and Fastly, but it's losing the visibility war. For investors, this is a classic 'build it and they will come' fallacy in action.

Canceled CDN Service, No Pro-rated Refunds
Canceled CDN services company wide. The end date was the 22nd of the month, they still pre-charged for the entire month of service. Trying to cancel and get a prorated refund has been fruitless. You have to question who is making the decisions at this company. Thankfully they no longer offer CDN services. I would still carefully consider what other services they offer since they don't care about customers too much.
Awful
Awful, avoid the company altogether. First, they made a huge price increase, and then they dropped the WAF plan totally with only a few weeks of notice. This is indicative of some very bad decision making in high levels of the company. They cannot be trusted with your company's data.
Poor communication
Price increase, POP's closed then closure. Could have just been upfront to begin with. Also claim to have communicated this prior to when they actually did.
You can't trust them, build on them
I was fine with the price increase earlier this year - if that's what it takes for them to continue their service, I'll pay it. But now it turns out it isn't enough - with less than 3 months notice, they announce that they're pulling the plug on their CDN offering. For us this means sudden reprioritization to move our white labeled SaaS CDN elsewhere. So yeah - extremely unprofessional and really weird. I wonder what's really going on there - this is such a huge red flag, even if they would extend the deadline I would (and will) move my services away asap.
Price Increases + Support Decreases
Added the following new fees: - "energy surcharge" fee - a set fee based on previous usage. We reduced our usage by around 90% but the energy surchage fee remains the same (hundreds per month) - "origin shield" fee - previously no cost for using origin shield, now it costs extra (no other CDN company charges for this) - "support" fee - have an issue? Well now you have to pay to resolve it. Cheapest support is $199 per month and that's just email. Replies come within 3-5 days most of the time We were spending thousands per month with Stackpath. Now just moved to BunnyCDN for half the price and couldn't be happier!
