TeleMed2U: The Specialty Care Time Machine
How a $14M revenue healthtech is solving the specialist access bottleneck
While telehealth giants battle for general primary care dominance, TeleMed2U is executing a surgical strike on the most painful bottleneck in healthcare: specialist access. Their homepage doesn't promise convenience—it promises time.
"They're not building another telehealth app—they're building a specialist distribution network."
The Specialist Bottleneck Problem
The average wait time for a specialist appointment in the US is 26 days. TeleMed2U's entire model is engineered to collapse this timeline. Their 102 employees aren't chasing general wellness—they're building infrastructure for rheumatologists, endocrinologists, and other specialists to see patients virtually within days, not months. The 90 monthly searches for 'rheumatologist online video consultation' reveals a hungry, specific market they're capturing.
The Revenue Efficiency Play
At $14.3M revenue with 102 employees, TeleMed2U generates ~$140K per employee—strong for healthtech. But the real story is in their traffic mix: 46% direct traffic versus 41% organic. This isn't a company relying on SEO hacks; they're building brand equity. When 480 people search 'telemed2u' monthly, that's repeat usage and referrals, not acquisition spend.
Their tech stack tells a story of pragmatic execution over flash. They're using jQuery, Bootstrap, and Tailwind CSS—not bleeding-edge frameworks. This isn't a company burning VC money on React rewrites. They ship, iterate, and focus on clinical operations. The 2.6/5 Trustpilot rating with only 4 reviews suggests they're not optimizing for review volume; they're focused on the core transaction.
- Specialist-focused model (rheumatology, endocrinology) vs. general primary care
- Direct traffic dominance (46%) signals strong B2B partnerships and brand recall
- Lean operation: $14M revenue with just 102 employees
- Pragmatic tech stack prioritizing stability over novelty
The Anti-Platform Strategy
While others chase scale, TeleMed2U is building depth in the most defensible segment of telehealth.

Support staff is not helpful when…
Support staff is not helpful when needed FMLA forms filled out by doctor. Cannot actually meet your doctor. Its like pulling teeth to contact your health provider. Not enough info is provided by Healthcare professional.
They must hire the people who barely passed med school
The person I'm assigned to is horrible. She disbelieves TWO different diagnoses by well trained doctors at well regarded facilities, yet didn't order any further tests to find out for herself what's wrong. I have pancreas and liver issues. She said I "look too healthy" for the imaging and diagnosis from two different doctors in two different hospitals over several years to be correct. Apparently she has not heard managing a condition to try to prevent it from becoming so bad I look deathly ill. How can any real doctor write off two real doctors' findings because the patient "looks too healthy?" It's insane. I'm getting a referral to a real doctor. If there's any hint of 4u or 2u in the name, I'll know to trust my gut next time. Unbelievably bad.
Unreliable Care and Denied Requests
I strongly advise caution before seeking care at this office. While the reception staff were consistently kind, professional, and often went above and beyond to help, the medical care I received from the providers and policies left me without proper support. Medication Refills: Refill requests were often delayed or denied. In particular, my birth control refills were denied even while other medications were approved. This was especially concerning since those other medications can increase the risk of pregnancy. Cancellations & Rescheduling: Appointments were cancelled or rescheduled, which delayed my treatment. Cortisol Testing Error: The office failed to provide the medication necessary for a cortisol test. As a result, I completed the test incorrectly and had to repeat it, which cost me an additional $400 out of pocket. Refusal to Change Providers: When I requested to switch to another endocrinologist within the same organization, my request was denied under “company policy.” Despite explaining the issues I had experienced, I was pressured to return to my original provider. Patients deserve reliable care, continuity in their treatment, and the ability to seek a second opinion when needed. Unfortunately, my experience at this office showed a pattern of oversight, delays, and refusal to accommodate reasonable requests. I share this so others can make an informed decision before choosing this practice.
Lack of follow up - do not recommend
I had such a frustrating experience with Telemed2U. My first appointment with a rheumatologist went well and I left feeling hopeful. I completed the blood tests that were ordered and received abnormal results — but then everything fell apart. When I went for my follow-up, I was told my original doctor was unavailable and they’d find someone else. They scheduled me with a Nurse Practitioner who, mid-appointment, realized she was only licensed for California patients. Since I live in Texas, she had to cut the call short but promised the office would reschedule me with a Texas-licensed doctor. Instead of fixing the mistake, a Telemed2U rep later called and tried to book me with the exact same NP who wasn’t even allowed to see me. The whole process was a cluster. After that failed, I was told the next available rheumatologist appointment would be five months out. So now, after spending time and money on testing, I’m left scrambling to find another office to interpret my abnormal blood test results. The lack of coordination and follow-through at Telemed2U has been incredibly disappointing.
