Upward.net: The Invisible Job Board
A $2M revenue platform with a 1.3-star rating and zero organic presence
In a market dominated by Indeed, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter, Upward.net operates as a ghost—generating $2M annually with just 20 employees, yet its 1.3-star Trustpilot rating suggests a fundamental product-market disconnect. This isn't a growth story; it's a survival case study.
"A job platform with 653 monthly visits isn't competing—it's existing."
The Traffic Paradox
With 56% direct traffic and only 26% organic search, Upward.net isn't discoverable—it's remembered. This suggests either a legacy user base or a platform that users are forced to use through employer mandates rather than choice. The 100% 'undefined' country traffic indicates either tracking failures or a platform so niche it defies categorization.
The Brand vs. Search Disconnect
The keyword 'upward' generates 18,290 monthly searches, but 'upward careers' only gets 90. This 200:1 ratio reveals that while people know the brand exists, almost no one is actively searching for jobs there. The 250 monthly searches for 'upward careers legit' is a damning signal of user skepticism.
The tech stack tells a story of modern tools deployed on a legacy foundation. They're using Vite, Tailwind, and Webpack—cutting-edge frontend technologies—yet their backlink profile of 1,810 links is anemic for a job board. It's like putting a Tesla engine in a horse cart. The LinkedIn Insight Tag and Facebook Pixel suggest they're trying to track conversions, but with 653 monthly visits, the sample size is statistically insignificant.
- Revenue-per-employee: $100K—below industry standards for job boards
- Trustpilot rating of 1.3 indicates systemic product or service failures
- Zero organic keywords means no SEO strategy or execution
- Direct traffic dominance suggests employer-forced usage, not organic adoption
The Zombie Platform Thesis
Upward.net isn't growing—it's maintaining. For founders and investors, this represents a cautionary tale: modern tools without modern growth strategies create digital ghosts that generate revenue but capture no market.

How Upward Discriminates.
I joined Upward because after 10 years of being single and focusing on raising my child, I wanted to find a practicing Christian man and was hesitant to start dating again. This was the first site I chose. I signed up and met some very nice men and shared kind and fun conversations with a few of them. Suddenly I couldn’t get back on the site. I tried for a few days, then had to search online for their customers service, as their site doesn’t give directions on how to use it. They brilliantly told me to get into my profile and fill out a form…and I had to explain the problem was I couldn’t log in. After I gave them enough information, I was finally sent a form that was to appeal a ban???? So I filled it out with absolutely no idea what I was appealing. I made it clear I was unaware of anything that I had done wrong. They still wouldn’t tell me what the issue was. I then received a response saying they reviewed my case and the ban remains. I responded twice asking if they could please tell me what I did wrong so I could learn from it 🤷🏼♀️. I read over all the terms, conditions, and guidelines twice, and still have no idea what it was. If you know me, you would be laughing your rear end off because I am the most reserved Christ-loving person you would know. It was a “You know what you did” kind of scenario, only I have no idea what I did. I was polite, kind, responsive to everyone I interacted with. I can only guess they are discriminating against me for some reason. If you are looking for an ethical company that is transparent, this is not the one. If you wanted to, try them out for free, but I would suggest not investing in them as they treated me unethically, discriminatorily, and disrespectfully. And if I could give them a zero, I would as well. Following Christ means having grace. And there was no grace shown to me by the people of this site, who claim to be Christians…the Bible tells us to beware of those who claim to follow Christ, yet walk a different path. You will know them by there fruit. This fruit is no good.
If I could give it a 0 I would
If I could give it a 0 I would! Terrible website, corrupt and terrible. Of all dating websites/apps I have experienced this is by FAR the absolute worst! They come masquerading as “Christian” but it is overrun by scam artists and catfishers! I spent $35 of hard earned money in hopes that there were decent Christian people out there to dare, but it turns out the world and these dating sites are corrupt. I was on there 1 day and had to report two accounts for catfishing! One wanted to talk on WhatsApp the other was talking on a line that is a Boston number but searched the number and it was reported as a “scam” phone number associated with scams! A disgrace truly!

After paying for elite services you still hav to keep paying for your profile to be circulated…Upward team is scamming people.

I just purchased a three month subscription. After a week, I’ve gotten no hits or matches, not even a like. I feel that Upward is a scam, and would like to be refunded. We as Americans, are constantly getting scammed and nothing is done about it.
Security violations…
This dating app tracks you better than the NSA. I travel quite a bit for work and received messages from women in every place I traveled. Deleted the app for security and immoral reasons.
