Refund connects for unopened proposals
Freelancers are now expected to pay a premium membership fee for 100 connects per month. Most proposals are anywhere from 17 to 25 connects. With boost, you can expect to spend 25 to 35 per proposal. The client’s not even obligated to open the proposal therefore you’re throwing pennies into a dark wishing well. I believe that Upwork should refund the freelancer any connects related to a proposal that goes unopened. I’ve sent this to Support. I’ve created tickets stating my concern. I’ve worked with Upwork for many years now and I’ve recently frustrated at the amount of time and connects/money spent for people to just disregard you. End rant
Paid for services, then account suspended with no refund
I invested significant time creating a complete professional profile on Upwork, uploading portfolio projects, and following all platform requirements. My account was approved, and I was allowed to actively apply for jobs. In order to use the platform, I paid for Connects, which Upwork sells as a paid service enabling access to job applications. After making this payment and submitting proposals, my account was suspended without a clear or transparent explanation. The most concerning part of this experience is that the paid service was effectively not delivered. After my account was suspended, I could no longer use the Connects I had purchased, and no refund was provided for the unused balance. Additionally, there was no prior warning that my region or profile might be subject to trust restrictions. If such limitations exist, they should be clearly disclosed before users are allowed to pay for platform services. While I understand the importance of trust and safety policies, charging users for access and then disabling that access without refund or clear justification creates a deeply frustrating and unfair user experience.
