Eventbrite: The 38M Visit Titan
From ticketing giant to experience economy anchor
Eventbrite isn't just a ticketing platform—it's the invisible infrastructure behind millions of experiences globally. With 38M monthly visits, it commands a massive audience, yet its 1.1/5 Trustpilot rating reveals a deep friction point. This is the story of a platform that built the rails but struggles to smooth the ride.
"Eventbrite owns the discovery layer but is losing the trust layer."
The Brand Moat vs. The Experience Gap
The data is striking: 55% of traffic is direct, and 'Eventbrite' itself is the top search term with 545K monthly queries. This indicates massive brand equity—people don't discover Eventbrite; they seek it out. However, the 1.1/5 Trustpilot rating (based on 1,783 reviews) suggests a severe disconnect between brand promise and user experience, likely driven by refund policies and event cancellations.
The SEO Playbook
Eventbrite's organic strategy is a masterclass in long-tail domination. While 'Eventbrite' drives volume, they rank for high-intent queries like 'free local events happening this week' (183K monthly searches). This isn't accidental; it's a deliberate capture of the 'I'm bored this weekend' market, funneling users into a platform they already own. The 29% organic traffic share proves they don't just rely on brand.
The tech stack tells a story of modernization. They've moved to Next.js and Vite, leveraging PWA capabilities for a seamless mobile experience. Tools like Radix UI and shadcn/ui suggest a commitment to a design system that scales. Yet, the user experience friction persists—likely in the checkout flow or event management tools.
- Brand Dominance: 55% direct traffic is a moat most startups dream of.
- Content SEO: They own the 'events near me' discovery funnel.
- Trust Deficit: A 1.1/5 rating is a red flag for churn and negative word-of-mouth.
- Global Reach: 79.4% of traffic from 'undefined' (likely US) suggests heavy domestic reliance.
The Billion-Dollar Question
Can Eventbrite monetize trust as effectively as it monetizes tickets? The revenue ($154M) is healthy, but the rating suggests a ceiling. For founders, the lesson is clear: brand gets you in the door; experience keeps you there.

Great platform, but hard to access customer support
Well, I am giving Eventbrite an average of four points, possibly 3.5 if that were available, because some aspects of my experience have been excellent, and one aspect has been poor, so I want to be fair to the company and its people. 1. I have been using Eventbrite consistently for 10 years to sell my online lectures. As a solo operator, having to do all my own admin as well as preparing my events, I find the interface very easy and reliable to use. You just need to go through a small learning curve when you start, but thereafter, it has been very consistent and user friendly for a simple organization like mine. I have no idea what the experience is like for more complex events or organizations, but it suits a sole trader like me very well. I get paid a few days after each event, after all checks and balances have been undertaken. Refunds are easy to issue. So, its a 4.5 stars from this point of view. 2. I recently experienced an issue where I closed the email account under which I had registered my account, so I had no access to the inbox for my security code. So, I could not log in, or update my email address. This is where Eventbrite's weakness showed up - getting access to dedicated customer support was unecessarily difficult, with a poorly developed AI chatbox as a first resort, and a great deal of difficulty raising a ticked for a competent and willing advisor to get in touch and try to understand my issue. It took me two weeks of persistant effort to get a competent customer support agent. So for that, I would be inclined to subtract a few stars, and give it a 2. 3. However, once I finally got a decent customer support agent - a real live person who kept up a constant line of email advice and communicated intelligently with me over several days, I found the service was exemplary. It was a tricky issue involving account conflicts, and we needed to try several different strategies to resolve it. My agent was called Arnel, and they were so very resourceful and patient, sticking with with my issue over more than two days untill we resolved the problem. For this agent alone, I would give 5 stars, except that it was initially so difficult to find someone like this. So, as an overall rating, I give Eventbrite four stars, in the hope that they will put some more effort into making their excellent agents more accessible, and maybe that they might do something about that primitive AI chatbox. A great product overall, but It could be so much better.
Eventbrite deletes honest organizers
So I updated my listings to indicate that people shouldn't contact the venue about the event status and to not automatically enter the venue because I don't know if the event runs or not. it relies on sufficient people. With ongoing inflation and all that, I can never get enough people. Better I tell the truth to the people than to put out a lie. So what does eventbrite do to honest people like myself? Delete our accounts. Pretty pathetic.
If I can give this venue a 0
If I can give this venue a 0, I would. This is an awful company and I advise anyone not to purchase tickets through them. We purchased 2 tickets back in November for $107.00. The show canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances" and included a link to request a refund, which I did. And we have not heard back from anyone since. We started a dispute with my credit card company and its still ongoing. They are denying and refusing me a refund which is not right since they are the ones who canceled, not us. Do not buy tickets from them!!
Totally scam
Totally scam. They must be sued and banned.
Didn't inform people of basic information
Firstly, dispite several emails from the Bolsover team for more detailed information, Everbrite didn't respond. When the event was cancelled they didn't inform many of the people expecting to go on the event that it had been cancelled. They deserve their poor reviews. Just not responsible organisers in my experience.
