It's a really bad tool
It's a really bad tool, never pay for it. It doesn't work properly, they don't give you your old videos after the subscription ends, but you pay for them. I do not recommend.
Unreliable and limited
We've been using Lookback for several years at my company and we have always experienced tech issues. The reason we haven't moved away yet from it is because of the burden of having to migrate all the videos to a different platform, but after yet another round full of issues we're definitely going to discard this awful tool once and for all. The time we've wasted on troubleshooting and cancelled interviews is ridiculous. Calls that fail to start, tech issues at the participant's end, missing recordings... We waste more energy and time trying to fix issues that actually doing the work. And the tool is also RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the things it does - I can't believe they still think they can charge thousands of pound for a basic recording tool in today's market where there's a plethora of other great options. A tool like Zoom does exactly the same thing as Lookback, it's widely adopted and it easily integrates with all other research analysis tools and repositories (f.e. Dovetail). Lookback never integrates with any. I remember having a call with an EnjoyHQ rep some time ago, when I was considering getting their product. I asked why they didn't have an integration with Lookback, and they told me that they had everything ready for it but essentially Lookback was not letting them create the integration. Whatever the reason behind that, there's honestly no space for such a restricted, specialised tool in the 2023 researcher's toolbox. Avoid, and look for much better options.
