CouriersPlease: The 139M Dollar Bet on Franchising
Inside Australia's most controversial courier network and its high-stakes digital strategy
With 1.7M monthly visits and a 2.3-star rating, CouriersPlease isn't winning popularity contests—it's winning the logistics war. This is the story of how a franchise-first courier network turned digital scale into market dominance, despite leaving customers divided.
"72% direct traffic proves they don't need SEO—they own the Australian delivery mindset."
The Digital Moat
CouriersPlease has achieved something rare: 72% direct traffic means customers type 'couriersplease' directly into their browser. This isn't brand awareness—it's brand dependency. With 1.7M monthly visits and top keywords commanding 16K+ monthly searches, they've become the default choice for Australian parcel delivery. The 21% organic traffic is just icing on the cake.
The Franchise Paradox
CEO Mark McGinley's 366-employee empire is built on a controversial model: franchising. While competitors scale with owned infrastructure, CouriersPlease outsources operational risk to local franchisees. This explains the 2.3-star rating—quality control is fragmented. But it also explains the $139.5M revenue: ultra-low capital expenditure and lightning-fast market penetration.
The tech stack tells the story of a company obsessed with conversion. Tailwind CSS + DaisyUI for rapid frontend iteration. Google Analytics + Hotjar for behavior tracking. reCAPTCHA to prevent bot attacks on their quote engine. Every technology serves one goal: turn those 1.7M monthly visitors into shippers. The absence of social profiles isn't negligence—it's focus.
- 139.5M revenue with just 366 employees = $381K revenue per employee
- Trustpilot's 195K reviews create a massive SEO moat (negative reviews still drive rankings)
- CPDirect signup portal shows B2B focus, not B2C convenience
- Undefined traffic geography suggests either data issues or intentional obfuscation
The Unsexy Billion-Dollar Playbook
CouriersPlease proves that in logistics, operational arbitrage beats customer love. They don't need five-star reviews when they own the search bar.

Couriers is improving their services…
Couriers is improving their services with the help of the new management from FMH Group as they made the phone lines back at 1300 361 000. We need to support our SME’s and Couriers Please is Australian based company thriving to compete with Aramex and Aus Post.
The courier today could not even be…
The courier today could not even be bothered to attempt delivery just dumped parcel at collection point I cant get too! Yes I was home all day and they managed to leave yesterdays delivery without issue. Customer services dont read complaint and keep replying parcel has been delivered (but not to me)
Worst courier service
1) Delivery during working hours, when I'm at work, no evening time. 2) No delivery on weekends. 3) First time, they didn't deliver to my home address for unknown reason. 4) I requested redelivery to my office address and paid an extra $10. I was in the office waiting for the courier, but they left it in the stairwell anyway. 5) The redelivery took half a day. They demanded that I had to contact the store to change the address. I strongly do NOT recommend them. I asked the store to use regular mail.
Extremely poor customer service from Couriers Please
Extremely poor customer service from Couriers Please. Despite clear communication about serious medical recovery, their fleet team showed no empathy and refused to resolve a failed delivery. The response was rigid, dismissive, and unprofessional, highlighting serious failures in training and management. Based on this experience, Couriers Please is unreliable and not a courier company I would trust or recommend.
Couriers From Hell!
I am writing this review after several problems with the company. A parcel was despatched from Quingdao, China, on 29 December 2025 with UPS. It arrived in Sydney in good time on 2 January 2026. Sadly, UPS use Couriers Please as delivery agents in Australia. My parcel arrived in Melboune on 2 January 2026 and Adelaide on 4 January 2026 where it sat at their depot, a 20 minute drive to the delivery address. After lodging complaints over 5 successive days, I finally received my package on 16 January 2026, 12 days after it arrived in Adelaide and too late for its intended use. I would pay double the delivery cost to avoid Couriers Please and have communicated this to UPS.
